The Minister should appreciate the need to ensure that security protocols are adhered to for the saftey of all persons on the airplane. Security comes first.

It's his arrogance and that of his government that we are begininig to see.

The incident which happened goes to show us that members of the our government do really believe that they are above the law.

Screening is for the little people and malaways, not for persons who perceive that they are too important to adhear to rules and regulations.

Only a mindset of arrogance and ego can cause a Minister to behave this way. I've seen the current US Ambassador to the UN being screened at a US airport, even though she was being accomapnied by a security detail. Also I had the honour of witnessing Owen Arthur as he came off a flight in his native Barbados, actually hand his passport to an Immigration Official; pick up his bags off a carousel and pass it to a red cap, and walk through Customs with his bags. But I've also seen Ministers from the previous and current governments in Saint Lucia behave badly at George Charles airport. But if Bousquet doesn't feel obliged to greet his staff when he gets to work, surely he would not feel he should observe security arrangements at an airport.

Rufus and Menissa -- 2 peas in a pod. LOL

It will be very interesting to see from what angle Rick Wayne will defend him. I can't wait!!

Anonymous said...

Just another example of how unfit Rufus is to be in a position of power.

Anonymous said...

Oh yes and I heard Guy Mayers defending Rufus on HTS news last night. Does Guy have all the details?I would also like to ask the media what is the reason for saying that the security officer is a neice of some top ranking person in the Labour Party, are they making aspersions?

There goes Leary Carascos'and Denys Springers choice of a new Prime minister for St.Lucia, well all he Kings horses and all the Kings men cannot put Humpty together again.
To think the areformentioned gentlemen have the nerve to blindside St. Lucians to thinking that there is even a remote chance that Bruce Dwain Tucker, a convicted felon should become Prime Minister of St. Lucia ,it speacks volumes about their own integrety.
One can understand that Rick Wayne is indebted to the UWP, after all, the slice of the Duty Free concession he was given by the UWP must be impacting on the Government ability to pay civil servants, indeed over ten years it must add to a tidy sum.
Well, as for Springer,a trip to Taiwan did it.For these two to bash Teachers and Civil Servants the way they do, they are only serving their best interest.
Rufus' arrogance and lack of Humulity and remorse, continues to assail St.Lucians.

and so although the UWP Government appears to have many of the talk show media personalities in their pockets (e.g. Tim, Rick, Juk Bois) it is becoming clear that all their dirty secrets can't hold together. Its just too glaring and in your face now. Yet, its the fault of the masses, right? Teachers, nurses, civil servants...its YOUR fault! At least that's what the media might want to make you think. Yes unfortunately, its becoming a lot more difficult to hide the stains of corruption, arrogance (ooo I thought that word was reserved for Kenny Anthony for a while there) and plain lies and deceit. So perhaps more of us Saint Lucians will grow some gonads and eject our government for Flight SLU before we come crashing down, cuz its clear that Steve, Guy Smiley, Guy, Richard, Este, Rufus are no pilots we can trust.

Me thinks he's above the law.

Anonymous said...

He has always been above the law. His entire he has done things and gotten away with it. This time is no exception.

But what are we thinking of replacing them with? Some of the same stuff? Well, St lucia is on its way towards a crash for real.

Let us not pretend there is any good on the other side. They all are from the same rotten apple.

The biggest mistake King made was when he included Rufus Bousquet in the cabinet. He should have been kicked out of the party for rebelling against the elected party leader.

What contribution to St. Lucia has Rufus Bousquet made? King has an albatross around his neck now, and all he can do is hope that the people of Choiseul cut the rope for him in the next election.

Be careful of displaying hubristic tendencies Mr. Minister, especially in matters such as these.

The leaders must serve as examples for the citizens when it comes to cooperation with airport authorities.

Thus far, I've been impressed with your performance in parliament, and your ability to finagle your way back into the government.

It would not show weakness, if you decide to make a public apology at the appropriate time.

Yes, LuciaBoy, what St. Lucia really needs in Parliament is people adept at finagling their way into positions whereby they can be lavishly supported at the people's expense. With voters like you, will St. Lucia ever get out of the political cesspool it finds itself in?

Rufus on front page again?
You folks, don't realize this is a non-issue again?
You don't have anything else better to do?

What if the Minister was testing the security system we never know.
If he was not screen he could have put the blamed on the security system at our airports. Everyone needs to be screen

"Yes, LuciaBoy, what St. Lucia really needs in Parliament is people adept at finagling their way into positions whereby they can be lavishly ....."

I'm sorry you didn't catch that "tongue-in-cheek" statement.
Perhaps I didn't express it in a manner that would convey that.

Anyway, I stand by the gist of my contribution that our "examplars" must play the part at all times, whatever the circumstance.

This plus, the comment that suggested that he, unlike the rest of St.Lucians, knew what was good for the country and intended to do it, mean that Rufus will never have my support. It is the same reason for which I cannot support Kenny Anthony.

People like that never change - arrogant people never feel they need to. They will never listen - people who feel they know it all never do.

I want a leader that is competent, a visionary and humble. Is that too much to ask?

I can't agree more. All those pushers who are intent on pushing the likes of Rufus and Kenny on us I say take heed.

A leopard can never change its spots. Kenny without a criminal record is no different from Rufus when it comes to arrogance. Look to me that there are a group of people in this country who can't wait to get a hold of power again and for the first time as is the instant of Rufus.

We all have to be weary. King is used goods, Rufus is recyled and in that you can add Kenny Anthony to that heap.

Time for something new.

Well this just proved that he is one of the many "Mules"smuggling whatever in and out of the country. So not wanting to do as policy only shows that he is deep in what they do best.

As for MR. External Affairs who has his touch in helping locals obtain US Visas and sleeping with every woman he sees.
Needs to "Practice what you preach".

When you listen to the HTS report on this, with the man himself trying to explain away his actions, you will see for yourself:

love blinds but arrogance and pomposity delude.

Someone needs to tell the wannabe emperor that his coco is showing.

Rufus Bousquet needs to grow up.
What the HELL is he thinking,Creating such a scene.

I think he is letting this minister thing get to his "BIG" head.

He need to get his little ass kick out of the house just like the pilot almost kicked him off the plane.

I was one of those who condemn him after reading this story I am no fun of Rufus but tonight I heard his side of the story and the man makes sence.

High time we stop all these political games. We should not try to remove a government by employing underhand games. There was no need to embarace him like that. People need to do their jobs and not allow politics to get in the way of them doing their jobs.

Whether its UWP or SLP in power I don't care. We have to show some respect for our public officials.

Anonymous said...

We have to show some respect for our public officials.Shouldn't they earn it first?

Anonymous said...

How are they going to earn it if from day one we started on a note of not wanting them in government? I don't support trying to remove a government with games. I agree this government is no good, yet no one can show me where the next crop of leaders will come from.

1% Kenny and 0% King...100 times more for Kenny.. said...

Well the next crop WON'T be coming from the UWP, that I know. The SLP stands a far better chance. The UWP support itself is so divided, I'm sure the vast majority of contributors to this thread have been persons who voted UWP in the last election mostly because of Sir John and their loathing of Kenny Anthony. Yet, they know that Rufus and the vast majority of the government are an absolute waste of time. So I'll be frank, Kenny for me 100 times over Rufus, King et al.

Isn't it ironic how we create in our minds what our ideal government should be just the same way we fantasize about our ideal mate. If it's a man we want him to be tall, dark, handsome, educated, rich, talented, cultured, sensitive, etc., etc....

We, as a collective of St. Lucians, crave a government consisting of persons of moral rectitude, high levels of intelligence, charisma, highly articulate, perceptive, etc., etc...

Folks wake up we can only draw from the pool of talent or lack thereof that obtains. All of us are for the most part products of our environment.

Haven't we noticed that every succeeding generation of St. Lucians are a little more uncouthed, a little more morally bereft, a little more insensitive, alittle more self absorbed as the previous one.

To be fair to St. Lucians, this is a global phemonenon. Folks if we are true to ourselves we will accept this as a fact of life. However, there are exceptions to this rule.

Ever so often, we are blessed with a decent young person, like Dr. Robert Lewis or a brilliant mind like Bro. George, or a visionary like John Compton. Even so, they are all flawed in some way or other. That's just the way it is. Human beings are not perfect.

The electoral and political system, we were bequeathed by our colonial masters restricts us to the a government consisting of who can bring home the seat, or who was better positioned to jostle his/her way as the candidate.

When the majority elects the government, irrespective of how wafer thin that majority is, we must subject ourselves to their decisions, their policies, so long as they are within the bounds of moral probity and constitutional acceptability.

Ultimately we can only get a "government" consisting of ourselves as we are. Until there has been a siesmic shift in our collective consciousness, morally, socially and psychologically.

isn't it strange that in an era of UWP blunders all of the sins of Kenny have been forgiven? LOL
