Radical Change called for

The recent IR impasse between government and the CSA exploded the myth of competency in industrial relations (IR) practice in this country. Nowhere, and at no time did the CSA shew any notion that it was on top of the situation in terms of skill, competence, knowledge and expertise.

The government negotiators too, went into negotiations without the expected facts about the staffing and expected growth of the various grades within the service.

No one could convince anybody, or even themselves for that matter, that they were able to rigorously and objectively cost the labour contract that was to be signed in the collective bargaining agreement.

Nobody argued the negative wealth effect of the VAT, purchasing power, and the decline in real wages, with the acceptance of the more or less imposed settlement.

We ended up with a cruel joke being perpetrated on the country's workforce. But, nobody seems to be laughing.

...and it is high time the unions paying the workers and not the company/government when they call for a strike or sick out.
Thats what the membership fee is for.
