Instead of paying the weight for the 28 four- finger clusters, winfresh pays by the box and not the weight. For instance the boxes can weigh up to 50 pounds, but winfresh does not weigh by the kilo but by the heap of bannas in the box. In this case,28 clusters.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357275718341686228.post-60641716515049868412009-11-07T01:25:06.054-08:002009-11-07T01:25:06.054-08:00Farmers of St Lucia, it is time we come together. ...Farmers of St Lucia, it is time we come together. In numbers, there is strength. Even in selling to the local market, we undercut each other to our own detriment. The divide and rule method is working wonderfully against us. Only in this market prices are not dictated by 'supply and demand'. I am not speaking specifically about bananas; farmers work tirelessly in their fields and other people reap the benefits of their hard work. The Ministry of Agriculture provides farmers with obsolete information on the cost of production for their produce and only after they have invested heavily that they realize that they cannot make a profit from their investments. We need help! Can Winfresh provide that assistance? One last thing...to me the new name Winfresh connotes "toothpaste!".....are we in for a new minty taste? And who will savour the taste, Winfresh or the farmers?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357275718341686228.post-30401040768268289212009-10-15T04:14:25.255-07:002009-10-15T04:14:25.255-07:00what does WINFRESH in terms of abbreviationwhat does WINFRESH in terms of abbreviationAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7357275718341686228.post-19169196438129045962009-10-14T09:08:46.292-07:002009-10-14T09:08:46.292-07:00eh eh, Tomatoes, $5.50 per pound in JQ today , no ...eh eh, Tomatoes, $5.50 per pound in JQ today , no lettuce or cucumber and Winfresh talking about exporting Dasheen and papaya for under a dollar a pound! Whether it is in St Lucian farmers interest to grow for export is highly questionable when they cannot at the moment fill the local demand. In truth it begs the question if you cant produce enough for the local market why export at a lower cost. This line of questioning however is not in the interest of Winfresh as it was not in that of Wibdeco. Fill our containers so we can make money they cry!!!<br />The tourist industry is importing at high cost the real task for the farmers is import substitution not export.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
