on the Bousquet , Bruce matter i say this: While every man is a sinner and we have all sin, this does not in any way means that collectively we should not chastise person or persons who have done wrong, especially those who are aspiring to be our leaders and are our leaders in the society.
Leadership comes with a certain type of quality in a man or woman. That must be respected and demanded of all those who are aspiring to be leaders in our society.
Should we refuse to demand a high level of character, honesty and transparency from our politicians then we are just as they are, which says plenty about us as a people.
Should we not demand men and women of substance, character and honesty into our leadership circles then we would be putting in places of leadership thieves, rapists, murderers, con men, drug dealers, the very dregs of mankind.
The skeletons coming out of Rufus Bousquet's closet should not be swept under the carpet but fully exposed so that we the people could see the true manner of the man aspiring to be our leader.
Secondly that does not pertain to him only but to all our politicians. The closets of all our politicians should be exposed for public viewing and all skeletons there should be revealed.
The good lord says forgive and forget and we are prepared to forgive and forget Bousquet's actions, but this does not mean he is eligible for office.
There are repercussions to every action and Bousquet and others who feel they could do anything and still run for public office should think again.
You are forgiven Bousquet but such forgiveness does not qualify you to lead the people.
Going back to the bible Moses in his time was Jehovah God most trusted servant, yet because of a certain sin he was not allowed to lead the children of Israel into the land God chose for them.
The same of King David. A man of God he was but because of certain sins committed by him he was not allowed to build God's Temple.
So to all those who say he who has not sin cast the first stone I say this: While stones cannot be cast because we all have sinned, this does not in anyway mean that we should not be penalized for our sins.
Finally on the Bousquet matter: Bousquet's exploits in the USA was done not as a teenager whom one can excuse but rather as a full grown man, as he himself admits by claiming he was 25 - 26 at the time.
So his excuse that he was young at the time and could be forgiven is hogwash.
His past has caught up with him as it usually does to all of us. He now needs to stand up and take his punishment as a man.
In the real world with real people he would either have resigned by now on his own volition or the people would have demanded in no uncertain terms his resignation.
In the real world , the people is all for good governance, sadly, St. Lucia does not qualify for membership in the real world so humble, chest-fallen Bousquet could come to the people with tears in his eyes and expects their sympathy, knowing he will get it, after which, he coolly goes about as if nothing has happened all the while shaking his head at the ignorance and sheer stupidity of the people, strong in the knowledge that come next month, next year they will not remember a thing and embrace him as a man able to lead them in Government.
He and his cronies are chuckling all the way to prosperity while the stupid, ignorance people wallow in enjoyable poverty.
