I don't know if Saint Lucians are aware of the seriousness of these matters. Government has the right to acquire land in the public interest or for the public good. This generally suggests the acquisition of lands for public amenities (e.g. socio-economic infrastructure incl. roads, open space, amenities, urban regeneration, public housing, etc). Now, there remains great doubt in my mind whether Government has the right to acquire land for the purposes of a hotel development. There lies great ability for abuse of power when Government acquires land for the purpose of resale to some third party. This opens the way to possible abuse, victimisation or nepotism. We all appreciate that tourism development is important currently as an income generator and all governments seek to facilitate development. However, such facilitation must be tempered with fairness and respect for persons rights. This was something I lamented about this since Government sought to acquire lands in the Canelles/Pointe De Caille area in 2007. There is also the situation of Government selling national patrimony, the Queen's Chain. Its no surprise when matter such as the Sandals Pillars or the House built by Italians illegaly at Beau Estate between the Pitons, the redress is always in favour of the developer. Good luck people of Soufriere, you're be sold out of your own land by your own Government.

And it becomes all-Inclusive and pay people little money because they don't get the good jobs and all the profit goes overseas. Modern Slavery I say.
