  1. That is nothing unusual to have many cruise ships in the harbour yearly every winter seoson, that is happening a very long time ago, because i was always looking forwards for the ships every year, because i was a tourist guide. So Chastanet must not try make people believe, that ships just start coming to St Lucia. The problem is a lot of tourist come but they spend very little, because of the economic situation.

  2. Congratulatoins to Mr. Chastenet.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Congratulation for what? Maybe is because we are paying him.

    ReplyDelete
  4. We are paying him to do a good job and he is doing just fantastic. Take your politics elesewhere, leave St Lucia to people who can appreciate when something is good.

  5. Please, please, please, tell me what Chastanet is doing that is such a good job. it is the first time cruise ships are docking at our ports? What must we appreciate that is so good, when so many of our workers are losing are losing their jobs everyday. I am not being political i am speaking the truth.

  6. So many of our people are losing their jobs in the hotels everyday. Is that a good job?

  7. It's happening everywhere in the world, it's the global economy, stupid.

  8. I was waiting for that excuse, global economic situation. Remember the government gave Chastanet the biggest slice of the budget? Remember Chastanet ask for more money to rescue the tourist industry? He should use the money to at lease use the to protect the jobs we already have. no he use the money to travel every day, pay Hepples a tax free salary, create many events that is counter productives and allow his friend to steal millions and get away to the U.S.A. Did you remember that?

    ReplyDelete
  9. But you stole 45 million for Rochamel.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Two wrongs donot make a right, uwp told vote for them they would have done BETTER. Do you remember that?

    ReplyDelete
  11. At least a hotel came out of Rochamel where many people are employed today in St Lucia, but came out of the money that was stolen from the tourist ministry under Chastanet? There is a big difference there, because we must remember Rochamel was an investment which was to produce many jobs for us in St Lucia, that went bad.

  12. It's the first time they will have over 700,000 cruise pax in St. Lucia stop the politics. The man is doing a great job. Last year it was only 600,000.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So what you expect numbers to remain the same every year, the world population is growing. Do not only tell me the man is doing a good job, tell me what he is doing that is so good.

  14. Talking about the world economy, you know it is only the poor that is feeling it the crunch of it, the rich people in America who can still afford to travel, they will always travel but they would just spend less, because they hold their money tighter. So you would say it is Chastanet who cause them to travel.

  15. You're a sour puss............

  16. I know typical people of my country, they have nothing good to say so they start with their one line non sense attacking the messanger.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You're not a messenger, you're just hearing voices in your head and that's a huge difference.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And you not hearing the people of St Lucia crying about that incompetent we have now?

    ReplyDelete
  19. They cried louder under the SLP that's y they gave them the boot... up right where the Sun don't shine. We think they're still hurting after 3 yrs.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I believe you are the only one that is not seeing that things were much better under the SLP than it are now, and people was still crying, much less not when things are much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  21. the two of you are ridiculus

  22. Why is it impossible for us to be analytical when it comes to issues affecting St. Lucians that play into the political field, instead of acting like hacks.

    Here are some facts.

The increase in cruise tourism and the apparently relatively robust expected performance in the stay over tourism for the 2009/10 Season have occurred on Minister Chastanet’s watch.

We are in the middle of one of the worst recessions in the history of the world economy in at least 50 years therefore we can only look positively on the Government and the Minister of Tourism with regard to the performance of the tourism sector at this time. Hats off to Mr. Chastanet.

Minister Chastanet has indeed been profligate with the people’s purse and some of his ideas have been expensive and failures. Boxing ,Hepple, the rebranding of St. Lucia are three examples.

In comparison we can also allude to the fact that there are numerous instances where the previous Administration cost the people of St. Lucia hundreds of millions of dollars in mismanaged taxpayers dime – and they refuse to explain the circumstances under which this wealth was thrown away.

Minister Chastanet for many years was condemning of the cruise ship industry yet this is the industry saving him today. Does it mean that he helped it along in the past few years or he just happened to be in the right place at the right time ?

During the last Administration there were two Ministers of Tourism. Menissa Rambally was an utter failure. Minister Phillip Pierre who had a hand in Rochamel during his second stint as Minister was the recipient of the most robust growth in the world economy during his second tenure and one would have to compare his results relative to Mr Chastanet operating under a ghastly world economic environment.

Mr. Chastanet talks the talk and makes tourism players feel welcome whereas Phillip Pierre always looked scared socializing in the industry. How far did each of these approaches help /hinder the industry ?

Chastanet looked very bad for awhile in his capacity as M of T. Today the industry he leads seems to have found new legs. Let us see where he carries it through the next 5 months.

  23. We could also do this same analysis with not only the other Ministers but with the Members of Parliament on both sides of the divide.

How has Bousquet, Mondesir, etc performed.

How has the guy from Soufriere or Mussa performed?

Have they made life better for St. Lucians or their constituencies?

For example how would you measure the "alternate foreign policy" by the SLP in which they have denied their constituents the freeness coming from the Taiwanese ?

  24. The only reason why the cruise industry is doing better than the stay over hotel visitors is because of the economic situation, which is mostly felt by the poor. There are still many, many, many rich people in America who can still afford to travel on vacation every year, but they would prefer to take a cruise to conserve some cash instead of taking a stay over visit or vacation. So this has nothing to do with Chastanet, because he has said in the pass the cruise industry is secondary to him.

  25. i hear kenny i see BUSH, i hear stlucia labour party i smell the righ wing nut jobs of the republicans and when i hear KING reminds me of obama because of the mess he was left with by labour in a reccession

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hahahahhahaha, King remind somebody of Obama, that person forgot Obama is an educated man, he prepared himself educationally, before he got into politics. King had a good chance to educated himself, instead he sat in St Lucia for 9 years, doing nothing because he cannot demand a good job, until he was handed the PM job to create a mess in St Lucia.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Kenny is much more educated than Bush, so he cannot be compared to Bush. Who is King more educated than? All king can do is to read a speech prepared for him and talk nonsense on political platforms. Listen to the crap he was talking in Dennery.

  28. An education is a dangerous tool in the hands of a fool.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Where did you hear that nonsense? Give us examples.

    ReplyDelete
  30. St Lucian are fools, that is why unp NEVER provided enough school places for us after 30 years. King is a fool that is why he never educated himself, i am just repeating what you said. I would like to have a fool like Kenny because of all the development he did in 9 years in St Lucia. If places like St Vincent or Dominica had a fool like Kenny as their PM they would have keep him for life, because they need a good PM to develop their country like Kenny did in St Lucia.

  31. Kenny is an educated fool so he's dangerous.
