Using a political party's platform to fight for women's rights from a traditional St Lucian Party politics perspective could very well be counterproductive for the Women's Movement.

This woman should stay clear of political parties if she really intends to make a serious and sincere effort to achieve the goals of the women among them being equal rights and pressing for the respect women deserve from their male counterparts in Iyanola.

Here she is, a female activist fighting for women's causes in a male dominated enviroment (St. Lucia Labour Party). As a leader, why doesn't she build or use her own independent platform of her organization with the backing and support of the women's membership and some men who are sympathetic to the women's endeavours? She also claims to use every available platform to bring out her message, therefore she has to appear on the other parties platform and be Cherry Yellow to level the playing field or else she will be dividing women along party lines.

Could it be she is using the Women's Movement, their struggles and issues to propell herself in the political limelight? These cunning politicians on both sides will be demanding something back for the use of their platforms and will definitely exploit the situation to attract female voters.

This naive or maybe carefully thought out move by this woman is unusual, very unlike what is expected and differing in some way from the norm and is the reason why people of Iyanola are shocked and did not see this coming. But let's see what comes out of this after the elections, she nay come out of this a weaker activist with a decadent movement or a decisive politician.

Ras Creation very well said, Mis Cherry let me give you the facts,
1)women do all the ground work they know the people.
2)the largest percentage of our working force is comprised of women.
3)women are excellent managers.
4)56 percent of women vote.
5)every politician has a woman so the women have the inside information.
6)women are more honest with money.
7)women who are empowered take better care of their children than men do this will secure a positive future for our youth.
8)women take better care of their men than men take care of themselves.
9)powerful men seek, cars, rims, more women, more sex, more outside children, more problems, women are more serious about the family structure.
i can go on and on.
Mis Cherry why take all your efforts and direct it at the slp, why not lead women to lead the country, what the hell happened to you did the slp pay you to betray your move. it is not too late gather all women to make the right move, take charge now. i am a man and i am sick of men killing this country. if i run into you i will personal let you know how i feel.

Between RAS CREATION and ANONYMOUS follow-up, its easy to identify those characters with gender prejudices. The aim is to keep females domesticated and under their wings. Be wary of those male hypocrites.
Cherry keep the fire burning!!!!
I LOVE YOU.......LLL

I'm all for ms cherry and what's she's been doing for women in St. lucia but i too have reservations that a political platform is the best place to spread her message. Maybe if she brought this message to both parties in an equally forceful and bipartisan way , her cause might be better served. I think she might be just another pawn in their bid to regain power.

Both parties have demonstrated their lack of political will to substantially improve the lives of women in st.lucia.

She needs to mobilize women period! Nurture potential female candidates no matter their political allegiances, so that on both sides the fight for women's rights is represented.

I wish her the best with this ... it would be unfortunate if this is merely a pursuit of self-interest and not women's rights.

Blogger number 5 your point is totally off-target and your spelling still sucks!! LOL

I could not sit by and not respond to the 7th comment (below my original comment) because my intuition tells me it was written by a supporter of red who would go at any length to protect their partisan agendas. My comment and the comment of the anonymous which followed mine clearly depicts support for women with absolutely zero traces of gender prejudice and the existence of the truth is right there on this blog, all one has to do is to read and analyse our respective comments. No doubt, your brief and hastily crafted comment labelling us hypocrites is unfounded, baseless, speculative and not supported by any evidence or facts. Concluding by labelling us male hypocrites is is nothing short of being slanderous.

I man is Rasta, I HAVE A NATURAL LOVE FOR WOMEN, was raised by a single mother with three older sisters and a younger brother right there in Conway, Castries, and from the dawn of my life witnessed the struggles my Queen had to go through for us to survive without a father, I also saw the physical and emotional abuses including sexual abuses the women and young girls in the neighborhood experienced by their male counterparts in our neglected communitty which resulted in me being sympathetic to the women's cause and the fight-down and injustices they endure. So here you are slanderer, my support for women is based on my personal experiences and observation and is not at all theoretical and speculative. Thank you.

Poor Cherry you may end up like Sarah Flood Beaubrun. Be careful

Anonymous said...

Poor you. Seem to be green with envy. Cherry can take care of herself. Fret not for her, fret for your future.

Cherry says she knows well how one's character can be assasinated when fighting for justice. I hope she accepts she is her own assasin. But if Dwayne Tucker deserves forgiveness then so too does Cherry?

Cherry please next time, try at best to be original ok. Most of the causes expressed here are are genuine yes but came directly from "Hilary Clinton's speech on Human Rights in 1996" after all you could have said "and I quote". Ouch!!! that leaves alot to be desired girl despite your good intention.

There is little that is original or genuine about Cherry

There is?

IN ST.LUCIA ONLY WHEN YOU ARE ON A PLATFORM YOUR MESSAGE IS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. I AM NOT FOR OR AGAINST ANY PARTY BUT THIS CURRENT ADMINISTRATION BRINGS SHAME TO THE GAME OF POLITICS...

SHE IS RIGHT TO ASK PEOPLE TO VOTE LABOUR IF UWP FAILS TO BRING "SOME" CLEANER FACES TO THE GAME. THIS CURRENT ADMINISTRATION HAS SHOWN THAT THEY ARE ANTI-CHERRY's MESSAGE. How so you may ask? There has been absolutely no justice or consequence for the following:

WE HAVE AN EX-CON IN CABINET ISN'T THAT UNCONSTITIONAL? or AT LEAST SHOULDN'T IT BE? BRUCE TUCKER (Compton had him out, remember that)

WE HAVE A CABINET OF MINISTERS VICTIMIZING LOCAL WOMEN, the case of Majorie Lambert, the girl whosed medical files were made public after a beating by a UWP top dog, etc etc etc etc etc

WE HAVE A HOUSE WHERE THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION for the first time in history convinced the house to vote against the Attorney General's document and yet this AG remains in office.

THE MOST INDISCIPLINED PUNCH OF MPs IN PARTICULAR THE ONE who left st.lucia and publicly admitted on JUKEBOIS that he left St.Lucia and did not inform the PM and said that all of his colleagues including himself actually DID receive money from the TAIWANESE after DENYING IT, let's not forget the rumours of bad behaviour with women in and out of St.Lucia.

THE MOST HEINOUS ONE which makes me wonder what else is going in CABINET behind close doors...the infamous TUXEDOGATE amending cabinet conclusions for personal gain.

I can only wonder if this is what the public knows what else is going on that we don't know.

AND SOME PEOPLE WANT TO BAD MOUTH CHERRY FOR TAKING TO THE OTHER PLATFORM...cmon now! The enemy of my enemy is my friend, this is the nature of the game, why do you think anyone would go on a political platform , what other form of recourse does she have when the other side keeps on showing they don't believe in justice or consequence of actions?

IN ST. LUCIA ALL you can do is play red against yellow and yellow against red.

ANYWAYS I THINK WE HAVE BIG PROBLEMS and BIGGER PROBLEMS TO COME. NO MATTER WHAT PARTY WE SHOULD BE DISCUSSING IDEAS AND DEALING WITH PROBLEMS. COMPTON WAS NOTORIOUS FOR DISCIPLINE AND KENNY FOLLOWED SUIT...but KING is a special case boy if only COMPTON were alive I wonder...

POLITICS IN ST.LUCIA NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UP TO STANDARD.
