It is amazing how the Press Secretary and Rick Wayne's Star have tried to spin this one. You wanted a condemnation, flagging what was parochial to the world is condemnation enough for me. The State Department has reiterated what we know to be true in St. Lucia and is giving the world an opportunity to draw it's conclusions. If the line in the report which introduced the corruption said backwards, it suggest St. Lucia was forward, you can only roll back on gains that you already had. Rick can spin as he likes, we know better, atleast he did not go as far as suggesting that Mondesir put his private home on the application by mistake. I wonder if all of the efforts to cover the mistake up were mistakes too.

THE CARIBBEAN GOVERNMENTS SHOULD FORM ITS OWN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION.
THE US SHOULD CLEAN UP ITS OWN BACKYARD FOR EXAMPLE CRIMES AGAINST BLACKS ASIANS AND MUSLIMS.US ABUSES IN IRAN ,IRAQ CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA AND AFRICA AND THEIR SUPPORT OF VIOLENT HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES AGAINST THE PALESTINIANS JUST TO NAME A FEW.
the US attempts to show itsself as the bastion of moral purity but they fail to see that the world sees them for who they are

Dear readers,
With respect to the article on human rights, let us review and take seriously one of the major human rights abuses taking place against us as Blacks and also against cuba and Cubans.
I pass the following article to readers for their diligent consideration.
(a)The following article entitled: Vaccines to reduce population...found at the following address:www.globalresearch.ca
(b)this additional address can give the article as well:www.engdhal.oilgeopolitics.net/ Swine_ Flu/Gates_Vaccines/gates_vaccines.html.
These vaccines are being injected into blacks because an attempt is being made to stop us from reproducing in order to completely eliminate ue as a race.
we should then judge the US human rights report in this view point as well.
best wishes
Fume

Bad for St Lucia. But good to hear that the deeds of Mondesir and Frederick are no longer local issues which can be hidden the rug.

for the sake of St Lucia the world must know of what is happening in this small country of ours.

Here is an article that speaks of U.S abuses of women in Iraq.

Given the amount of attention this report has been given I beg to ask 2 questions:

(1) Does the US have an agency in St Lucia who prepared this report?

(2) Is there anything in the report which is news to anyone?

All of the information presented in this report can be found in different news sources within St Lucia through out the year 2009. What is all the fuss about. Is it the fact that this year in review was produced by the US department of state?

Yes, Rick Wayne can spin all he likes, but the facts remains; that there are convicted criminals, allegedged drug baron, tax evaders, wives and or girlfriend's batterer - to the point of being maimed...the ills goes on, who are Government ministers in the UWP Administration.

Here is the website of the report:

www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/rm/2010/134309.htm

To reiterate what the other reader said, "good for the rest of the world to know about those UWP government ministers"...shameful and shameless!!

The U.S. is considered by all the major human rights organizations to be the greatest violator of human rights in the world. It's always amusing to watch this morally depraved and bankrupt country pass judgment on others. The arrogance knows no bounds.

I do not support any form of corruption in government, but i think that we have chosen to focus on the section of the report that deals with corruption in government while forgetting that the report also speaks of corruption in the Police force and the abuse of persons in police custody.

Many persons calling the talkshows have never read the report and will never see the other issues which we should also be agitating for form the current government and those outside who want to form the gvoernment. There is an extract from the report:

The minimum wage did not provide a decent standard of living for a worker and family, but most categories of workers received much higher wages based on prevailing market conditions. However, a number of smaller establishments paid less than the minimum wage, and Haitians and others often received less than minimum wage.

I think that one of the Media houses should re-print the report in their papers.

If we look at some of the previous reports we will realize that some of the same problems exists under this or the previous government.

Politicians choose to highlight sections of the report to score political points at our expense.

We need to pressure our politicians no only to address corruption in government but to look at the other areas in the report and give it the same interest that is given to other sections.

And so what?? Gush i heard a radio announcer making such big deal about this like because its the US department that all hell break loose. Small island thinking in the 21st century at its best. First of all i dont give any credence to this report and further more, before the US dept could point a finger i think it should clean its own back yard. They cant talk to china and those other imerging powers but they see it fit to pick on an island thats not their own size. Corruption is rampant in the US dept. Talking about human rights look what happen in iraque with those prisoners and quantamo bay. There corrupt senators imerging all the time, racial discrimination and even at this moment some of them cant grapple with an african american president. couldnt help but shake my head in shame when i heard radio personel making a big deal of this.

Typical, shoot the messenger. The same people crying about the U.S. can't wait to renew their visas to get there. The message is clear, now it is not St. Lucians alone who can agree that things eh right in fair Helen. Richard and Mondesir are the stars of the show. Should anyone be surprised?
