Overheard a Saint Lucian in a conversation at a St Lucian hangout in Brooklyn, New York say when he visited Vieux fort, St Lucia after 15 straight years in the USA he was apalled at the sight of the deterioation of the market and central downtown area which used to be a vibrant business area. Everything downtown was PHASED OUT and concentrated in a privately owned uptown mall and the local small businesses and also residents who hussle on the side streets selling acra, fried fish and chicken, bakes and saltfish and stuff like that are robbed and left out of the economic activities of the town. There is absolutely no night life; when the sun goes down in Vieux Fort the town is a virtual ghost town. This is PHASING OUT FOR REAL.

Do Vieux Fortians really care whether there is a library or not?

They don't care.
Had they cared, the result today would have been different.
