Dr. King enjoy your bom and keep quiet! Be certain not to discriminate against the sex worker coming to you for treatment or advise on prevention methods. Be an active proponent of public education on the prevention of the spread of STDs and the use of more innovative and indigenous methods of getting the message across. Leave the laws to lawyers and stop acting as though you have a financial gain rather than a professional responsibility to treatment and prevention. Jesus did his job already (he who is without sin, throw the first stone)!! Now, go ahead and do your job as a doctor.

Dr. King, you want to be Saint Lucia's Commissioner of Sex worker regulations? or are you planning to be the President-General of the Saint Lucia sex workers Union? Don't we have a big enough government than for them to also worry about how people conduct their private sexual activities? There are other things to worry about, such as the efficient running of the health institutions to adequately address the cure and prevention of the other diseases which plague our nation. How about the proper running of the crime lab so that criminal cases can be speedily solved. Don't jump on the bandwagon because it is a popular topic of the day. There are many more things God put you here for... the sex workers have enough proponents already.

Isn't it strange that these grandiose ideas were not brought to Stephenson King in 5 years, now Kenny has to find jobs for the youth, you fellas suddenly want the new SLP government to lose focus and concentrate instead on such CRAP? Stephen: Keep up the good work on this and many other issues. It's admirable that you consistently speak on behalf of the unfortunate in our society. Legislation to make sex work legal in St. Lucia is probably not achievable in the short run. There is a clear need for debate and discussion as to whether it is necessary and prudent to have such legislation in the long run. Evidence on the prevalence and outcomes associated with sex work in St. Lucia may not be well documented at this time. There is a great deal of conjecture about what goes on. Without appropriate evidence, it may be an uphill task to objectively support a case for legalization of sex work. Nonetheless, you should keep the focus on two aspects of this issue: (1) the health and welfare of sex workers and their partners and (2) decriminalization and non-discrimination of sex workers in St. Lucia. Additionally, it may be a good time to initiate a high quality research project on the prevalence of and outcomes associated with sex work in St. Lucia, and perhaps the OECS.

I wish you the very best in your new role as senator, my friend. I will certainly visit with you and my ENT friend again the next time I am in your neck of the woods.

Once sex work becomes legal what is there to stop young men and women leaving school to work in the industry? We can't even deal with hordes of under-achievers who leave school without CXC or even life skills. CARE cannot handle all of these kids. If Dr. King feels so good about sex work being legal, would he want his own kids to work in the industry?

Gauging from the responses, it appears most people are in denial of the existence of prostitution in Saint Lucia... The Laws as written is designed for Women (particularly) to go around giving free sex.. Let's Face it, if the same woman or man was to have sex with multiple men or women in a given area without pay he or she wont be arrested under any existing law. So one can conclude the prostitution law is about preventing men or women to use their God given body to make a living nothing about protecting society of moral fiber or health.

So why not just go ahead and regularize it .... I support Dr. King

I support Dr. King 100%, and am ashamed of the ignorance of some of these people who have written the comments, are you all cops, they wouldn't support this view from Dr. King as they own the brothels in St. Lucia and treat women like vermin. What we have again is people being bigotted and self rightous. Many women on the island have sex for groceries etc, and most men pay for sex by buying the groceries, but thats not the same as prostitution is it?????? or is IT................ Shame on most of you.

Agreed with the person above. St. lucia is not the "Helen of the West" as we like to say. St. Lucia has the highest rate of births outside of wedlock in the WORLD just when the world is realizing that the greatest problem with African centric society is the breakdown of family.

Have we ever really looked at our Carnival and the vulgar display by men, women AND children.

Have we looked at how our women and young girls dress?

Imagine we had to return to a political failure in Kenny Anthony who helped destroy the moral fabric of our society because those we replaced him with, were just as bad if not worse. Now we have the Stephen Kings and his ilk pushing forward the liberal anti family agenda.

What has he offered in the two months of office?

Promises of more borrowing in the hundreds of milllions.

Promises to increase the size of government. You can bet that in the next budget address he will repeat what he said a thousand times before aboue increasing the efficiency of government. Words, words and more words as he has never and cannot do anything about the size or efficiency of government because he is a liberal.

Placing two accused rapists in important positions in government.

Placing a complete neophite in the important job creating industry of tourism.

Travelling here there and everywhere has already started with him and his Ministers.

Already the economy has slowed considerably since the SLP came in and we can expect it to get worse for the year.
