Bravo to the new government of Saint Lucia as it embarks on new initiatives for the continued development of our country!!!! I applaud the Dr Kenny Anthony led administration for its radical departure from the norm and for venturing into unchartered waters with the housing scheme initiative. I wish the government well in its endeavours as it seeks to bring relief to all Saint Lucians and to foster better relationships locally, regionally and internationally.

i must commend the new gov on a new approach to gov procedures... well i think other islands have already embraced such protocols in the house... anyway as the blogger reminded me .. about the new gov housing projects.

i hope we get away from the fact that some stlucians are fine with gov building apartments be it young aspiring educated stlucians who are about to start their own families we cannot expect that everybody can afford to buy house and land and call it low income housing... the gov. can take that approach for some UDC homes COSTING on average $$130,000 but its more economical for both the gov and stlucians who wish to live in an apartment style complex where after a few years the appartments they are renting from can be sold to them

The gov will make the return investment by way of the rent money and now they can sell these apartments to ppl, perhaps in the range of $70,000 TO $100,000 which might be easier for stlucians to pay perhaps in 12 yrs AND NOT 20-24 Years of paying for these small UDC HOUSING WHICH HAS NO BEAUTY INSIDE OR OUT

I am soooo looking forward to hearing King (the UWP opposition leader, Ezechiel and Estaphan debate issues of the day against such a competent group of educated and well distinguished men and women of our present government. I am already getting nervous for Mr. King especially since he was constantly hiding behind written speeches.

The budget debates will be taking a new and sophistictaed twist, and I don't think that the current group of opposition leaders with the exception of Gail Rigobert will do a good enough job. I could have included Richard Frederick and Guy Joseph but both guys have been noted for bringing up issues of irrelevance such as cost overruns and Grynberg with Federick grimmacing and twisting his face for the sake of emphasis.

We need a strong Opposition to ensure that the current government lives up to its promises to the people. As it stands now we have a very weak Opposition under the leadership of Mr. King. Hope the Opposition can recognize that and at least choose another Senator who can adequately assist Gail Rigobert (although in the Upper house) in addressing the issues in the house. I SAY BRING IN SARAH BEAUBREN OR IF POSSIBLE CONVINCE DR.PLUMMER TO SERVE AS ONE OF THEIR SENATORS.

The SLP cannot be lulled into a state of complacency because of all their distinguished leaders. Anything can happen if the SLP does not treat some of its distinguished leaders fairly. If they are not treated fairly it would be a loss for the SLP and a win for the UWP.

Some of the distinguished leaders who are currently being sidelined in the SLP can very well be targeted by the UWP. Most distinguished persons like Dr. Long and Dr.Raymond are assets to any party.
