For starters, St Lucians need some schooling on what the word “art” really means as well as what is genuine art. Granted, these are not easy questions, but they do require some serious research and discussion. Because whereas Walcott’s creations are agreed upon to be art, just putting a mic in front of a pop singer’s mouth does not automatically warrant our press placing the word “artiste” next to that person’s name. At the moment, there are no clear values or definitions being sensibly applied.
Walcott also recently expressed his disappointment in St Lucia’s current arts scene.

Note how there are only 2 bloggers showing any interest in this article. That appears to be the state of the arts in St Lucia nowadays - NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER!!
Articles on politics can get 30-50 blogs in one day.
