This is a precise description of how egotism and greed combine against the common good and an excellent warning about what egotists are doing to feed their shrivelled and distorted self image.I would strongly request that readers find a copy of Porter Stansberry's Investment Advisory December 2011.The contagion of egotism and greed is well documented in his report about the consequences in the USA.
The scary side comes when we add the corruption we all witness without raising an eyebrow!

Good piece of writing and information. But it would have been nice to go beyond the theory and point out various situations in St. Lucia that ar close to experiencing the tragedy of the Commons. For example, the wide spread clearing of the forest in the mid-eighties to early nineties for the cultivation of bananas, and the effect of that on our water supply, etc.
