The UWP can rebuild. They just have to get rid of greedy power hungry fellas. Who needs Richard, Guy and Spider.
This is a very decisive time for the UWP. The decisions they make now will determine the future of this party and the role, if any, it will play in the future governance of St. Lucia.
i am happy despite mr. CLEN Bobbs clear hypocracy..if king had won elections he would have kept quiet... its nice that within their own ranks they always knew the weakest & chief link or links... uwp need a younger vibrant political leader preferably one who is in their early 40s.. many younger newer faces to form a new sleet of party members...and they need to go out in the public early like they are already on the campaign stage.. THAT PROB, WILL NOT HAPPEN CAUSE THIS PARTY IS A WAIST OF TIME ANYWAY... GOOD RIDDENS.. i think we need a newer party to engulf uwp and its voters thats the best direction the next opposition party should take to face SLP...a woman leader for uwp will breathe new life into the party ..didnt they try that b4 once upon a time ... did it work ...NOT!!
They need a clean slate: A) All those who lost their seats should not be brought back.
B) Among those who won their seats, they need to get rid of Guy Joseph and Ricard Frederick.
C) The leader of the party have to be someone with guts who can help them win.
D) Time to get rid of all those recycle politians who run and lose, run again and win, run again and lose...
Flambeau must be made to understand these things don't show they are serious.

As far as I am concerned they should give another party a chance. Its time for the UWP to park itself on a side and allow one of the smaller parties to lead the way.

The UWP proved themselves to be incompetent wasters. King's administration was a disaster.
Kenny was given a mandate by the people and puts a disgusting rapist in charge of tourism who is already negatively affecting bookings to the island.
St Lucia is on a downbound train. I am sorry but it is true. Those with enough money and education should leave, things will only get worse.

The UWP should seriously consider two gentlemen on the SLP side...the two most qualified (a PHD and MD) that have been sidelined by the party to join the UWP party.
It would not hurt the party but instead help the party to consider having discussions with those two persons. A UWP that has been totally purged and revamped in favour of qualified leaders can win the next elections especially since SLP supporters are already complaining about some of the policies of the Government where MP's are concerned.
Let's see what happens at the next reshuffle and then make our move. Dr. Long and Dr. Raymond are great assets to any party. Take note UWP!
I hope the MD and Phd stay where they are. They are both a total waste of time. The UWP have the forces they need they only have to find them.

This article just proves what people had been saying all along, that King was not a strong leader or a good Prime Minister. Had the UWP won the elections, we would have been stuck with this man again.
I really do not think that the UWP executive have any intention of changing anything.
They had laid the problems at the feet of Stephenson King.
The reality is that Ossie Boy was in the Executive and said nothing while King was showing a lack of leadership. Montoute, Eziekel, et al were all in the top echlon of the UWP when King was showing his incompetence. They said nothing.
Fredericks, Bousquet and Joseph were all doing their own thing and giving the UWP a bad name from 2006-2011 and they also tolerated King so that they could go on doing as they pleased in their Minsitries without any overall blueprint.
All of these persons were as happy as pigs in shit as long as King was their nominal ineffective leader letting them do what they want.
Do you think they will be any different now as they were then. They have shown their faces and they are venal and incompetent.
Ossie Boy is a joke. He more that most has been in the way of a UWP of substance developing. He has been in the forefront of a UWP with no structure, no leadership and no substance - yet now he is the face of the UWP on television.
Our party needs a total purge and cleansing from incompetent and corrupt men. Like previous Bloggers, I believe that persons on the other side(SLP) like Dr. Long and Dr. Raymond must be considered given the seemingly sidelining of both qualified and competent guys like those two.
We should also consider having Janine Antoine to return. Sarah, Claudius Preville, Guy Mayers, Chastanet and others must also be considered as well. I do have respect for Mr. King but the sad reality is that Mr. King is not able and competent to be leader of our party anymore.
We cannot deny that the SLP has brilliant and competent minds and wisdom dictates that we stop the foolish rhetoric and act wisely and expeditiously to win over persons who seem vulnerable on the other side including keeping some of our very own.
Five years is still away off so we need to strategize now. We can win the next election with the right group of persons.

When are we going to stop being so hypocritical? Certain politicians are castigated for rape while others who for decades had sexual relations with under age school girls (Statutory rape) were re-elected even as PM. One may say that the school girls were free to choose but there is a reason why we don't allow minors, under 16 to drive or vote. Minors can't make informed decisions because they are too young to do so. We had one of the biggest rapists heading our government for years. I despise all men who rape.
As long as we can Keep Richard, Guy Joseph, Rufus and Spider out of the mix, things gonna be alright for the party.
Them people have done seen their days. Most of them have contest one tpp many elections. We need a brand new start or else we the flambeau finish.
Each supporter of the UWP that said the party was the best for St.Lucia on this board during the election must now say sorry.
This party try to play the people of the Island. They kept telling us how strong the support was for King. They kept telling us how good King is as a Prime Minister.
The election is only 6 weekes old and now the top party officials are now telling the people that they were not ready.
We were also told about the indiscipline of some candidates. What is telling they are the same people the population had a problem with as ministers.
At this point I don't want to hear nothing from any UWP supporter. They must tell the nation they are sorry for what the party and the administration of King did to St.Lucia's name on the international stage.
I am desperately looking forward to seeing youthful leaders of good character and intellect to be a part of the UWP. Like Blogger @Jan 15 @1:11PM, I do concur with some of the persons listed for the new UWP particularly Dr. Ubaldus Raymond.
As a young college graduate, I believe that certain persons in our party used too much time denigrating persons with advanced degrees especially holders of PhD's like Dr. Raymond. The UWP can make a huge comeback if persons like Dr. Raymond can be a part of the UWP, that is, if the SLP continues to sideline him.
I say please consider Dr.Raymond and others listed as we carve a better approach to refine our party.
St Lucia will not have good leaders and politicians until we have our own universities. Being ONLY so-called smart or so-called educated is not enough. We need leaders who are both smart AND educated, and in particular, WISE!!

Very astute comment - education is the foundation on which a country is built and St Lucia deserves an academic establishment.
In the meantime, even educated men like Dr Kenny have to make do with men like the Minister of Tourism who may be educated but has a harmful reputation.

We seem to have lots of haters in St.Lucia. Those who either hate or jealous of the following persons:Dr.Raymond, Richard Frederick, Stephenson King, Guy and others.
But wait, the person who are targeting Dr. Raymond sounds like a bitter woman who was rejected by the man. Bloggers need to realize that this forum requires better of Bloggers.
Dr. Raymond and Dr.Long are great family men and leaders. It would be unfortunate if those persons are not treated accordingly by this government and people of St.Lucia.
