Very very good article and very very true, I love what you said, and I am a practicing Christisan and I agree with you whole heartedly. You are completely correct and my dislike for the legaliazions of prositution is not as much based on my Chtistian beliefs as on my belief that it will lead to crimes, drugs and criminal behavior that is way beon what St Luica can handle. Again I love your arguement and agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JASON/ Cogently argued - but you will not get religionists to look at the argument with an open mind! As for Anonymous's claims that decriminalising prostitution will lead to more crime he or she should remember the effect of Prohibition and its subsequent repeal in the USofA. Decriminalisation would shine a light on participants - and you can also claim income tax from them. Its side benefit would be that the State can perhaps insist on health checks upon those involved in the trade
It's not only Christianity that doesn't recognize Prostitution as a "normal" job, it's all religions in the world. Anywhere you go in this world it's the same. It's based on the same universal principle that men shouldn't abuse women. To say that sex is a private thing and doesn't have public consequences is narrow minded. Because of the misuse of sex, in St Lucia 86% of children are born out of wedlock and more than 80% of them will be raised by the mother alone. All the scientific research has showed that statistically children raised by both their parents have better result at school and have higher paid jobs. It's not good for the country. A country like Japan that is not Christian and that is the 2nd most developped country in the world, has a rate of only 2% of children born out of wedlock. Your sexual parts are maybe private but the result of sexual relations has a public impact in the society.
I appreciate exposing the hypocrisy of many Lucians who use God and the Bible to oppose homosexuality when those same people are involved in many "sins" which they seem to have no problem with. However, I would caution against lumping homosexuality and prostitution together as "sexual behavior." While I'm not necessarily against the decriminalization of prostitution (primarily for the safeguards that might afford to the women), you can't forget that many women are forced into this activity or resort to it because of poverty or come from a history of sexual abuse. This is a totally different situation than two people of the same sex who fall in love or have sexual relations together. In this case, this activity can be hurting some and their environment, so it is a different conversation. However, I do appreciate most of the points you made in regard to homosexuality, thanks for having the guts to write about it!
