After weeks of cautiously examining Dr Anthony’s motive for wanting to implement the value-added tax (VAT) in September—and now in October—of this year, the Lucian People’s Movement (LPM) is firmly convinced that there is a sinister political motive behind the government’s attempts to railroad the implementation of the VAT in St Lucia.
Did Compton do anything to prepare the people? Did Kenny do anything to prepare the people? Did King do anything to prepare the people?
Ok, all of a sudden Kenny want to ran with it like a runaway train. Ever thought about why Kenny he does not see it fit to do the right thing and prepare the people for it?LPM not the only set of people warning him to do it right. The Chamber have asked. Paula have asked. The UWP of all party have asked?
Can't you see the problem in not doing it right ???? What is a few more months???
Why is it that you silly people are think about this at a political stand point rather than an economic one? You do realise that the implementation of vat is going to affect the ENTIRE nation and not just on election day. I think that they are right- they should push the date back to fine tune and education citizens properly. only a brainless moron would think of party before their own darn economic future related to this article

Listening to the Senators almost made me chokkkk.
Vat, Sen.Fletcher say, we need the vat money to provide services and run the government- vat is not an equitable tax.
Berthia say, they not ready, and tour operators will not pay vat. OK who owes the government $36 million in HAT,
Dennery North say, postpone like most of St.Lucians feel, including LPM
Ezikel say, they afraid don't know what to expect.
You mean that's the upper chamber?
Nothing SUBSTANTIAL, NOTHING EDUCATIONAL, and the VAT office people more confuse, trying to explain something they do not understand, and will not understand anytime soon.
The net result will be that an underground economy, where people do most transactions in cash, will be created. After that, very few dollars will reach the Treasury and the economy could collapse.
VAT set at 11 percent can only bankrupt the TCI economy further and cause the treasury to collapse because people will start to do business in cash and not by way of receipts, invoices, vouchers or payments to the bank. Mattresses, holes in the ground, holes in the wall, etc. will now emerge as bankers of “first and last resort.” They cannot effectively police or regulate this underground economy that will emerge as a result of VAT. Yet owing to this reaction by the public, the Treasury will collapse.

Yeah man! Delay and it will make LPM become more popular. Simpletons!
The writer is so obvious. Only the unsuspecting can have this load of wool, or is it bull pulled over their eyes.

This is a very precise, fair, and accurate analysis.
LPM is on target. Good luck and stay the course!

Bow Wow you at it again. The fellas got 185 votes. Da is a start. Pas Joule ou avan ou toofay. LOL
I would not vote for any group that refers to people as dogs. That LPM group will stoop very low to get its way.
This is a very bad sign. These LPM guys are just as nasty as the UWP, the party from which they emerged.
Obviously, these LPM daydreamers are no better than those they are fooling themselves that they think they can replace.

VAT has been on the shelf since the time of Compton. St. Lucia is the only country that has not implement the tax. If not now...when?
