You cannot eliminate Vigie if you don't have a fast-train system from Casrties to Vieux-Fort.
Better days are coming- take one out and put another -same boneheaded vibes- different day.
The write views are very one sided, he fails to see that not only people from the north of the island use the Vigie airport. this argument that someone from the north cant travel to Vieux Fort for a flight seems to be as usefully as the dog eating a students homework.
He argues that one must be at the airport twos hours before and how it takes one and a half hours to get to Vieux Fort but has he every taken a morning flight from JFK to St Lucia. For a 6 am flight from JFK the same applies and yet tens of thousands make this trip yearly to St Lucia with no complains. I am not advocating for the closing of Vigie but reasoning suggested to keeping it open leaves one to wonder.
Also he speaks of Barbados, but the same applies, coming from Speightstown for an early morning flight means you go through the same as coming form the north of St Lucia to Vieux. Yet his beloved bajans do not cry foul but ensure that the get that 5am bus to the airport.
Okay Baige we get you. Or do we??

I'd like to support Anonymous 11,2012 4:12 PM. You are spot on. In addition to what you said, it is foolish and equal to economic suicide, but a slow death at that, to run two airports on a minute landmass like ours. The travel done by the natives does not warrant two airports.
