Good initiative. However, the goverment handing over a cheque to a private club - the Rotary Club of Gros Islet - is supremely odd. Shouldn't the Rotary club be seeking private sector funding? I'm sure there are other community-based projects that are equally deserving but those involved lack proper proposal writing skills.
Why are you all highlighting Jimmy Fletcher rather than the representative from the Organization providing these much needed funds to St. Lucia.
Also the Rotary Club should not be given our Public Sector Grant Funds. This is certainly not the intention of such Clubs. It defeats its purpose. Trust Fletcher to be lopsided.
The people need to know what requirements are needed to apply for those grants. What projects qualify? If the people are properly informed, then it will not be difficult finding proposals.St. Lucians are smart people. Free up the information!

Very poor choice.

ReplyDeleteThe manner in which Jimmy Fletcher operates, has never been to include all players.
ReplyDeleteHe is a man hell-bent on a select group. And that is why so many St. Lucians were shocked at his appointment as a Government Minister.
This man has a serious chip on his shoulders.
And believes that he's an expert in all fields as an Agriculturist, now turned economist, financial expert, human resource guru etc. etc.
What a sick joke. LOL.
The Rotary Club is not only exclusive, it has far better access to international donors than the average Joe wanting to make a difference here.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Fletcher appears to me to be a PHONY. A bloody waste of taxpayers money.
