Flags protocol is a flag is taken down on a night. So the Mid night raising I agree should be scrapped. Raise the flag in the morning excellent idea.

Have Valantines day on Independence Day would add to the celebration. Why not try it.? Its a holiday so should be a greeeeat Independent Valantine Day. ++

Permit me to correct a common misconception:- St Lucia actually "changed hands" 13 times. Simple math. Try the exercise with a colleague and a pen.

Decentralization of Independence activities is nothing new to the public, however the quality of such activities in the other districts is the single most important factor that needs to be looked at.Residents of the other districts have always held with much pride what they consider their best opportunity to participate in a National event.Such events included District Rallys,Independence queen shows and a host of other activities. I am speaking from my knowledge of activities that were well planned and executed by the various community committees established throughout the Island. With little help from other Departments The Ministry of Community Development ensure the participation of every Constituency in Independence celebration. I recall serving on such committes and being part of those celebrations. But where are those Community Development Officers who seem to give so much of their time in pursuit of Community success? Where are they?

We were happy being an Overseas Territory, we didn't ask for independence, the self-bloated politicians wanted it for bragging rights. Screw Independence.
