I am in favour of the preservation of the Creole language, not the sort of 1/2 creole and 1/2 English style I hear these days. If we can't speak the creole just speak English. Even the English is not spoken by some correctly. We seem to have a Lucian variation of many words, like draw instead of drawer for the drawer we pull under our desks, pre-fer-ably instead of pref-erably; the list goes on..
Another area we need to focus on (unrelated to the language, perhaps)is knowledge of street names in Castries, especially. Most of our youth do not know where Brazil street is or even Bridge street. This is very important. For example if a crime is committed on a specific street one needs to know the street name in order to call the Police and identify the location of the crime.
Unrelated to the language again is loud music or noise which can interfere with crime reporting, in that if a crime occurs near a noisy place, the crime may not be detected, being masked by the noise.
