Troubled Bridges, Troubled Waters

Lucidly told story. Just one remark: Might it be that the government had good mendicant reasons for employing the US Corps of Engineers?

I think its a good idea to have the U.S. Corps of Engineers to review the design and the project at large.
This is not to put anyone down, but I suspect the U.S. may be doing this as a gift. Sir, I have known Pat Brown a lot longer than you and I did and still respect him. Pat is o.k. but, if any thing goes wrong with the project, then you have the Corp of U.S. Engineers to blame and no one else.
Talking of Bridges, St.Lucia have not seen some of the Bridges I've worked on; some of those, Pal, are still solid after 40 odd years.
I would gladly invite the U.S. over to complete the construction of the St. Jude Hospital in V: Fort. Any thoughts on that?

John while I have a lot of respect for you let me say that things change and we also need to. The use of Gabion Baskets is not the only line of defence. What has been used can be also good once positioned properly.
Does not matter which Engineer is used after all that is our problem all the work goes to one team. Pat is a good guy he must allow the younger Team in. He has had his good days.

lets wait and see if/how the space between the placed boulders (placed in the bend of the riverflow)will be washed out and the boulders will shifting.

This is precisely why this country is in the shit it is in today.

Politics before country.

Well said; with a renowned gentleman like Pat Brown and a competent engineer (as I believe him to be) that is; the writer himself; you mean Kenny Anthony called on persons outside St. Lucia?

You mean he could have forked out forty-seven million dollars for rochamel; one hundred and seventy million for the oil exploration man GRENFEL and he could not afford to pay locals for their expertise a few thousands? Or was he being the usual Kenny Anthony a papa salop?

Mendicant reasons, or as one blogger put in nicely he was just being a "PAPA SALOP".
