Zombie Nation

When a man's father poured scorned on him for all his life, and did so in the glaring daylight before all of John Public; whether he is a Prime Minister or the zombie you see walking the street; what do you expect? Rejection and scorn from one's own parent destroys a man for life. And all he knows is to pass it (the negative attitude) to others.
The same holds for a man brought up in a negative environment. Or a man brought up in hunger and shame; like bastardization?
Like when the white plantation owners had sex with the brown and black women who worked as laborers on these plantations; they got pregnant; kept the kids so the man can dish out some money to them; but they cover up who the children's father is; until these kids grow and John Public can tell who the real father is? Like casino gambling the children are treated. These things leave a scar for life.
And the men in particular carry a serious inferiority complex; and it acts out in so many ways.
These women who had sex on the plantations with the white master/owner did not only have one child; sometimes they ended up having four, five, six seven eight and even eleven or twelve; all a big secret.
Then we, who did not enjoy their carnal pleasures must pay for the sins committed by white plantation owners and overseers in their beds of iniquity? Do you see why the rest of us have to give very wide birth to the psychologically-damaged products begat from such prostitution and those rapes?
1750 or therabouts Both George Washington and Thomas jefferson impregnated their African "belly warmers".
Unlike Brazilian slavery laws of the era - that fact did not change the status of the offspring under general law- Of course they got special privileges/protection within their biological fathers plantation / estate.
The point is that even said high social class birth had 0 sociological impact on the rigid color walls of separation and discrimination in said states.
It would take a supreme court ruling in the 1950' - even after thousands of colored soldiers fought valiantly in every major war- only to return to a mainland where color ruled the day and night.
Sex has been frivolous -on a global scale, since the trickster played Adam for a fool @ Eden.
St. Lucia can NEVER be a ZOMBIE country.Like all countries around the world there are beggars and zombies. Even the great and richest nations on earth.
But I believe the writer was trying to draw attention to the need for the Government to remove them from becoming a nuisance/threat to residents and visitors alike. It maybe she did not express her thoughts properly in writing.
@4:49 She Right! this is a problem and she highlighting it. you have to take the bad with the good. St. Lucia sweet but dem zobies are one of the issues makin it look bad.
Not because it happens in other countries it is right. I hate it when we resort to these remarks, "it happens everywhere". This has always been a problem and if we cannot feel comfortable and safe in our own country, why should we expect the tourist who spend money on a good vacation to? I thought the article was very well written and not biased. The writer recognized the problem for what it is.
The reason for homelessness on our streets does not date back to the dastardly practices of slave owners. We must look to other social causes in 21st Century St. Lucia, for example, high unemployment which is a function of the mishandling of our economy by successive Governments.. Then there is mental illness which requires a proper, organized, medical response which hardly exists in our country. These persons are invariably abandoned by their family and inadequately provided for by the state. Homes which try to address the problem (in the Castries Basin) like St.Lucy's Home and Cornerstone DO NEED FUNDING, unlike the others which are akin to paying hostels. Perhaps a monthly financial commitment by the more fortunate among us to these institutions would make all the difference to alleviating the presence of crotch grabbing destitutes on our streets.
Blame everyone, that's all you St Lucian's is good for. Castries is Zombie Town. I lived there for five years and it' was hell whenever I go there. They know I am not one from there so the keep following me, begging for money for which they know I have. What an awful thought.

This tells you how much sex was taking place between the plantation owners and the women who worked as laborers on these farms.
You ask me about a woman's self-esteem?
Oh wow. What a life.
And this act very often carries on for generations.
