I remember when the debt had just reached 1 billion only a few years ago. How the heck did that thing double? And what gains have St. Lucia made for the investment so I know if we heading the way of Jamaica or Barbados.
Are our people smarter?
Did corruption increase or decrease?
Is the civil service more efficient?
Has the employment rate change? Did it go up or down?
Zeigy you know all the answers to your questions, this government came into office under the promise that the previous government left the country with to much debt and they will do better. What they did was to double the debt with very little to show for it, because mostly all the projects done in the country was done by the Taiwanese. At lease there is evidence everywhere in St Lucia of what was done by the previous government with their debt. This government also promised us lower unemployment and a reduction in CRIME, these also doubled under their watch. St Lucians are getting smarting because every child can now get a place ins secondary school, thanks to the previous government.
Yes it is the SLP, to be blamed for all the ills we have in St Lucia today, how bias and forgetful we are to say that. We do not know what to believe the government is blaming and using excuses as the world recession, whiles others are blaming the SLP. They provide us with a budget year after year, with the same empty promise. Yes cost over run is preventing them from implementing the budget. AS if cost over run is something new to ST Lucia and the rest of the world. We had cost over run on the millinum highway. Guy Joseph resurfaced the Allan Bosquet road he never made the cost of the contract and the finish cost known to the public public, all he said in the budget it was $12 million, only to learn latter is was US $12 million They can fool some of the people some of the time but not all the people all of the time. It is close to four years since this incompetent government is in office and we hear the same excuses cost over run. Rochamel etc, etc. We tend to forget all our poor farmers banana money which was wasted by the UWP during their 30 year rule. When the SLP came into office they had to wipe out a debt of $45 million in the SLBGA. There was nothing proper in tT Lucia after 30 long years of the UWP. We did not not have enough primary school places for our children much secondary school places. So now we want to wander why do we have so much CRIME in St Lucia. Our prison, hospitals, police stations, fire stations, roads, sporting facilities etc,etc all was in a mess.
THe person who spoke about SLP left debt, they must check the facts and get it correct, because in 3 1/2 years UWP has doubled the debt with very little to show.
Of course SLP is to be blamed for where we are today. It's the same way the Bush has to be blamed for where the US is today under Obama. SLP left the country in debt the same way that Bush left the US. I hope the UWP never forget that when the elections are here. We have to drive it home.
Will UWP drive home that they doubles the debt in 3 1/2 years. They must also drive home what they did with that money. There is evidence all around St Lucia of what SLP did with the debt.
Only the shallow analysis of the budget can illicit such comments. The voice had one good piece the expose on the Airport Fiasco and then it lets us down with the shallow rambling of Micah George, I just picked up the Tuesday paper and it got worse with Stan Bishop, are we for real in this country. Who is going to ask King what happened with his double take on the tax issue, or is it because it was Kenny who exposed him you guys are afraid to go there. I am concerned about the impact on me as an ordinary St. Lucian that my PM makes an entire presentation and 3 days after realises he made a mistake. Was it a mistake PM, Voice ask that question if you have the competence.

Zeigy can't possibly have all the answers when it is a known fact that the SLP is partly reponsible for where we are today.
All the cost over runs the SLP government had. The debt had to rise because we were in a recession.

Don't forget to blame Vybz Kartel for the increase in crime rate in st.lucia
