St. Lucians are a confused lot it seems with very poor powers of analysis and serious illusions of grandeur. The situation as it persist to date is not about a polemic between govt. and opposition the opposition appear to be enacting their role as opposers as it is indeed a Westminster style confrontational political infra-structure within which the business of affairs of state are conducted however you have in place a govt that lacks any real understanding of its role to serve the people that is all the people of the state having in place a clear and transparent strategy with a clear well-defined and widely understood and accepted end game leading to measurable improvement in the day to day lives if its people. Whereas they seem more focused on measurable improvements in their own lives and fortune. You see public service in St.Lucia appears to be one of the main and most traveled routes to personal weatlh and elevated stature rather than a selfless determination to become the servants of the people in a hierarchy where the people are at the top and they the politicians are at the very bottom humbled and ready willing and able to serve the populace rather than voting for their own self -enrichment and aggressively nurturing their self aggrandization. The calibre of the current crop is very poor indeed and it is an embarrassment to hear individuals like the MP for Choiseul now reapponted as a gvot. Minister being described as able articulate and talented when it is blatantly obvious to those who listen in an effective way to his utterances that the man is definitely below par as are the vast bulk of his colleague this individual held the entire govt of a state to ransom not for the gain of his peoples but for his own personal gain that is unforgivable for politician and should really result in the termination of his political career his pretense was that a particular Senator held too much power whereas the issue there is was this power held in accordance with the country's Constitution or not, if it was then the question arises is the said individual able to handle their remit in an efficient and effective manner if no then kindly provide evidence if yes then its a non-issue. This was an obvious pretense for a subtext which was unable to reveal itself as the two indivduals locking horns where both of dubious character and therefore unable to speak openly for fear of incriminating themselves. indeed further it is embarrassing to read the subtext of parts of the media that seem to believe that their tenure of the current lot is an example of real politique instead what it obviously has been is nothing short of a disaster. Here we have a clear example of how not to run the affairs of a state is what this charade can teach us. and the need for a media that recognises that the dialectic of meaning of freedom of the press is a duty of responsibility to the truth supported by clear evidence not just innuendo and rumour or the private musings of persons who have no particular knowledge or areas of expertise .
