Micah ... I couldn't agree with you more. Calypso and carnival are an ANNUAL event. Plans should be realised from early o'clock!! Plans should be underway for the following year, from (at least) September or thereabouts- to be in time for June/July's events.

As for depending on "Government" for handouts, that is preposterous!! It is HIGH TIME they set their "business" right.

At the same time, don't these Associations realise that there are private companies who can HELP to organise themselves?? Marketing and Consulting Agencies abound in St Lucia ... even government ministries (OPSR).

I do not often agree with Micah's journalism.. . this time he has my full support. I see no reason why government should give this guys
the taxpayer's money to sing pappyshow. They also make little
or no meaningful contribution to
the economy. Most of them don't
even pay tax. They are freeloaders.

I don't see why Government has to support Carnival...period! There is nothing cultural about Carnival and these days there is nothing uplifting about it. After all these years, these Tents (with the exception of Ambassadors) have very little show in terms of improvement. All they do is fight among themselves and accuse their leaders of thiefing their money. The best leader they had was Lord Help Me but the Lord couldn't help him after the tongue lashing calypsonians gave him.

What the tents need is a gigantic dose of Papa Troublesome. Then and only then will we begin to sing.
