High Profile Lawyers in Govt/Regis Case

Again another unnecessary expense, if we had a more intelligent person as the PM of St. Lucia. Still more exasperating is the reason why the action was taken. It was because of a total disrespect for law and order. How on earth can we expect the young and impressionable to be guided by our laws when ministers of government are having a field day breaking the law. Aren't they supposed to lead? Lead by example?

When a young and immature population repeatedly elects to place questionable characters in high places like parliament this not only debases the institution, it corrupts the good morals of the rest of society.

With the voices of reason being silenced and the newspapers and talk show host aiding and abetting the society down the slippery slope, one wonders how long before other countries will refer to us as a failed state?

Mr Francis should also be aware of the thousands of dollars in the past 4 years being spent overseas by the GOSL particularly in the New York State Supreme Court in the case of litigation on the "St. Lucian House" formally known as the Helenites Center.
It's a no win case for the government and the only benefactors are the legal representatives (attorneys).
The longer the case the more monetary commitment to a wasted effort.

Thank you Jeremiah for the info.

To blogger # 1: We had a "more intelligent person" as PM; and we had the most "intelligent Cabinet" between 1997 and 2006. During those 9 years under the watch of these "intelligent people" we wasted more money on fudged investment schemes(remember Rchamel?)and infrastructure overruns (remember the East-West Coast Road?) than in 30 years of Compton rule. So put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Tell me, who is in charge of Helenites today? Itjust kills me to see hypocrites like like Jeremiah put pressure on a government that cleaned the messed of the SLP at the Helenites. All these opportunist are hanging out hoping SLP is going to come to office and provide them with a job.Jeremiah who runs the Helenties today should be thanking the UWP for giving him an opportunity to make a name for himself.

Bravo Mr. King!

Belittling the messenger on the issue of the litigation pending in the New York State Supreme Court, does not in the least justify the thousands of Lucian taxpayers dollars directed from the GOSL to pay legal fees to attorneys in New York. It is believed that such transaction is mediated by the Consulate in New York to defend the inevitable. Therefore the messenger is insignificant; the point here is to evaluate the wisdom of the Prime Minister to address and resolve the State's critical issues.

We all should be watchdogs of the operation of the government and simply report the facts.

The reason why our government is busy fighting this case is to right the wrong that Jerimiah's government put us in. How does Jeremiah hope to continue running the Helenites if our government don't settle the legal cloud that is still over the Helenites? Does he expect it to vanish over night? It's hypocritical of him to be seating on the a UWP completed project while at the same time back bitting the effort of our government.

It is always right once the other side has done it too or before? Jackass!

Our PM must be praised for all he is doing. Unlike Kenny who is vindictive he has not victimize SLP supporters. They all are there today bowing before his feet.

This is news to me. Are you saying blogger that the legal circumstances up in New York is not settled?

Then why the hell did they go ahead and repair that sh.t hole?

It is understood that a hearing at the State Supreme Court in Brooklyn was scheduled yesterday. No word on the outcome as yet.

Another day in court, means another dollar from our poor Lucian tax payers.

Is anyone interested in the fee charged to represent the government of St. Lucia by New York high profile attorney? Your guess may not even be close.

Can anyone give us an idea of how much the lawyers are being paid? What was the cost of repairing the so called St Lucia House? How much is the person or persons who are in court with the government demanding us settlement?

What a mess!

Typical flambeau idiots. Everytime something comes up all they could say "what about rochamel?" and "cost overruns" in a guy joseph tone. the SLP lost the 2006 elections on these issues along with crime and others.
UWP is now incharge. What has these lodge member, uneducated, money laundering, leave my beaches alone fellas done??? Tax evasion, increase national debt with the derilict Daher building (Grande is more useful to the country I bet), give Chereiki "cheap mauney", wait 4 years to implement a Labour Code the same ole Kenny created, have their women (keith mondesir) drive an SLG vehicle and crash it, have a criminal as the minister of Foreign Affairs etc etc

Now put that in your pipe and smoke it!

COME ON ST.LUCIA, WHETHER YOU SLP,UWP,LPM,ONE...WE NEED BETTER. THESE GUYS ARE THEIVES, DRUG LORDS, ETC

Not as long as SLP is the one pushing what you have said there. SLP and UWP is the same coin just different sides. They both have made the country suffer. It's like pot calling Kettle black or kettle calling pot bosco. All the SLP wantd is to return to power with the same old Khaki pants on. Anyone who is smart enough is bound to see that.

King, Modersir, Guy and every body else is a bobolist. As if Kenny and co and any different.

St. Lucians have no sense of shame. Imagine that they have a US con-artist and jailbird as a minister and have him parading on the international stage as a foreign ministers.

They have as a PM, a man with few on no CXCs. How much understanding of the world can such a person bring to manage and lead anybody?

Then they have a druglord in parliament interfering with police work.

Then they have and entire cabinet making illegal deals to give another cabinet member illegal tax breaks.

Then there is a khaki coloured minister with bad memory. He tells a court of appeal that he was not at a meeting dealing with his ministry when the cabinet agreed to give tax breaks to another member. The records show that this was not true. He still wants to run for office.

Then they have a minister going to court with his own government for non-payment of customs duties.

If this were a crown colony Britain would sack this administration and have the governor general rule as a single person.

Compton, a foreigner, to give his other khaki coloured friends more control of the commercial sector, rush to get premature independence. That arrogant upstart, elbowed his way pushing all but the dumbest St. Lucians, real broomsticks as ministers.

Then there is an MP with a run in with the police. The government officials 'misplace' the files regarding the case.

Do all or anyone of those people above sound like people who should be in the government of any decent society? Only political yardfowls would answer yes to this.

Today, with a still undereducated population, we are making children who produce children who can only go to parliament and repeat like total idiots "Madame Speaker, Madame Speaker."

Putting all affiliations and jokes aside, it is important to sit back and start to determine the future of Saint Lucia and in reality person or persons in that leadership role.

On each occasion John Compton returned to power, the country gained from his experience. In theory, it's only fair to say that Kenny Anthony will be a better Prime Minister and leader of our country than he was in the past. His experience and maturity in government has taught him well as former PM and Opposition Leader and I would certainly consider those valuable characteristics as key elements for the future of our country.

Tell kenny anthony to take of his arrogant cloak and apologise to the people of st lucia for THROWING AWAY US43m of OUR money and we have nothing to show for it. The money from Sandals grande is repatriated to JA. It does not remain in St Lucia. Then and only then we MAY consider him legitimate to run our country again.

None of the comments I read here had anything to do with this article. Wow! Ain't that something.

I do hope that this new Attorney General, has his head properly screwed on, and not allow this case to go down the drain. The Government ought to have had, more than sufficient evidence to have removed Ausbert Regis from that position. These many misplaced civil servants in Government who believe their jobs are for themselves and not for the people of St. Lucia, must think again, and learn a lesson or two.

It's a pity, the idiot Martin Satney, who up to now we have not heard what he did at WASCO for all that high-paying salary, and a fine reward afterwards as Permanent Secretary did not have a similar team in the High Court. I honestly believe, given his profile in the civil service should have never won that case. But then again who was the Attorney General?
