I would like to commend Mr.Lansiquot on his achievement. This is the kind of example we would like our leaders to set for the young people of St. Lucia. 1)It is never to late to make your dreams come true, and 2)Hard work and dedication does pay.

All the best to you Mr. Lansiquot in your future endeavors.

I do hope that Prime Minister King is inspired by the achievements of Mr. Lansiquot.

Why should we even mention King or even insult us by calling him our PM, He is not our PM, he is Compton PM because he is the one who imposed King on us. that is a man with ambition after 4 years of leaving office he is already a lawyer, King spend 9 long years doing nothing and now he is claiming he never had the uppertunity to further his education

Congratulations to Cyprian Lansiquot and Mr Monrose their achievements are laudable. My concern is that on a per capita basis it would appear the St. Lucia has the most lawyers in the OECS and perhaps the wider caribbean.
We have a lot of lawyers, a lot of laws on the books but we have very little justice. Where there is no justice the rule of law is greatly undermined and the country becomes a hotbed for corruption and crime.

We have fed the perception of a majority of St. Lucians that if you are well heeled and well connected you will get justice befitting of your stature, or better yet you need not face any justice at all. If your crime is egregious enough you will find a way out of the country or your file will be "lost".

What gradually begins to creep in the consciousness of young impressionable males is disregard for authority and the law. The feeling that "I can do whatever I damn well please" and to hell with the consequences.

The greater the unemployment rate the larger the greater the number of the young men with little hope for the future and once they get desperate they will do anything for their survival. The situation is further compounded as the majority of them are under the influence of drugs which emboldens them and robs them of any sense of compassion for those they seek to violate.

We have been sowing the wind for a long time and now we are now reaping the whirlwind. The frightening thing is that we have an incompetent and illequiped police force and a justice system the badly needs an overhaul. This is the reason why a significant number of murders and other violent crime go unsolved and even whey the perpetrators are apprehended conviction is never assured.

It'll get even worse if St. Lucians take a nonchalant approach to what they can do agitate for action on the part of the government and cooperate with the police at least the ones who are professional, committed and trustworthy.

Certainly deserve great commendation after successful completion. As a proud St.Lucian seeing this situation from a birds eye view I am the opinion that we are in dire need of more legislators. I'm hoping our lawmen who seem to be growing in numbers do recognize this situation as they go about their daily duties. As this emphasis on deportation of criminals gets stronger we must prepare even if some may too late by revisiting our laws. These smart criminals are so far winning the battle and complementing that, we are getting more lawyers seeking to profit on technicalities in our laws to strengthen those guys. Of course there are other factors that may help with this unfolding situation like better police training coupled with more interdiction equipment, fighting corruption specifically amongst the hierarchy(Go COP Francois!), most importantly more funding for the islands defense structure and a few more options. Let us all look at the bigger picture since after all this is where most of us will choose to retire and ultimately need better protection in the later stages of our lives.
