And so the cycle continues, the passive attitude of St. Lucians prevails once again; either for fear of victimization or for simply not caring about the countries forward progress. We need to stop letting humility and cowardice overpower our will to see real change, whether it is in government or otherwise. As we speak, there are people in dozens of countries around the world rising up and even though it is for a very different reason, we should take note and realise that we are the only ones who are going to impact our change. Rise up St. Lucia!!!
Micah, I'm very happy that you are the one who has done this piece, so that I can propose a challenge for you. Here is the challenge, which I will be copying to your Editor. With the same passion that you wrote, I propose that you passionately do some research and provide for the reading public yet another article, but this time with the angle of offering a possible solution(s) to this grave issue. Here are the items for research at the Registries: 1. Identify, one-by-one, what the main problems are, providing a full list of them; 2. Identify what are the actual causes of these problems; 3. Identify what are some of the more practical solutions to the problems, and possible mechanisms that can resolve the causes of these problems; 4. Analyse the entire situation, and present your findings in one or two articles, with clear recommendations concerning the final and permanent resolution of these difficulties; 5. These findings, analyses and recommendations, should be presented to Registry officials as appropriate, and also presented to the general public at the same time in the newspapers; NOW, remember to be frank with your findings. For example, if you discover COCOMACKACK during your investigations, you must honestly analyse the same and provide proper recommendations to remove the COCOMACKACKERY. I have a feeling that if such an eternal problem exists, and there's no solution, year-after-year-after year, that it is possible that some factors may be DELIBERATELY being perpetuated by someone, or some persons. If you find that lawyers, etc., are involved in any COCOMACKACK findings, you must be honest enough to expose them. By the way, Micah, such a study is also part of the art of Investigative Journalism. Over to you Micah. ALBERT CENAC.
Anonymous I why are you passing the buck? You have done half the work already identifying what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. Just set out to do your research. Interview a few customers about their experience with the service granted and their level of satisfaction. Is there anything they would have hoped was done differently? How long did it take then to be served? Was their isssue resolved in a timely manner? etc. .. You catch my drift then compile your findings and submit your report.
Albert. Cenac I have been reading newspapers for a long time in St Lucia, and I have never seen you challenged any journalist to do any investigating and to produce findings, why are you only asking Micah? Maybe because he is not this big affluent journalist like Rick etc. Who is Micah he is a poor guy fro Marchand? I have realizzed each time Micah write there is somebody to criticize hi grammer, spelling etc. As the person said, if you see the need for an investagation, why don't you do it? You are not the one paying Micah, his boss and many of his readers are pleased with his work, because he's one of the most fair, balance and truthful journalist.
I did not write the aforementioned blog, but here are my unsolicited thoughts on the issue. If Micah is not doing his job well and writes badly, without research and being downright bias, then he should be criticized. Readers have become a lot more sophisticated and demand good journalism. There are lots of good and cheap books available to help develop his skills. He does not have to be politically biased. His editor must accept some of the blame. He must that Micah writes well at all times. Perhaps Micah has too much work to do at the Voice...and he should carefully select his subjects. The Voice is beginning to lose its readers because of the bad journalism.
Like people will march against their relatives and friends who are employed at these agencies. Those who drag their feet and have no apparent haste to complete a task.I was waiting patiently to see how many persons would turn out and just as I thought not many turned out.
I just read about this topic on another Newspaper and I was disappointed with the report. It seemed like the reporter from the other paper just needed to write something quickly to fill up some space. I was happy to read a little more about the story from this reporter.
I am not sure why Albert Cenac got such a response about his comment. I did not see it as a slight or disrespect to the reporter. I see it as investigative journalism and I would be really interested to read about the findings. Someone asked that he do the investigation himself, why? I know many people who have had issues with birth certificates yet I was not surprised by the poor turnout. As usual, we are content to sit on the sidelines with our opinions, but can never summon up the courage, time or interest to take a stand. It's always somebody else's job.
Those who are criticizing Micah George are doing this out of fear, because they know damn well, he is one of the best and anlytical writers in the field. So take a hike or better yet you blogger you need a course in technical writing. And you can go to hell on that. You are always the same Labour Party Rat, writing these criticisms or are you some other rat. Like a wharf-rat.

Blogger 5 why don't you take a hike. Typical flambeau. Always talking loads of nonsense. That's if you could write an essay properly
