Mr. Devaux, let me quote you as follows: "All with ailments were hell bent on being healed, not realising that the deeper healing of mind, body and soul was what was more important. I wonder if this is being overlooked by our Health Authorities. Yes body healing is important but there is a deeper issue that needs to be addressed and appears to have been sidelined or considered not important in the policy of healing that the good doctor is suggesting." I hope you don't wish to suggest here that Dr. King should be giving greater focus to religious values and mores in his work. As you know, there are institutions designed for that sort of focus. I hope you don't expect our medical doctors to now mix religion with their technical work, as such a mix would not be productive in the least. As you know, Doctors are body healers not soul savers. Dr. King of course also needs to realize that his knee-jerk proposal for legalizing prostitution is an easy way out to a complex socio-economic problem, and that there is no easy way out to complex social and economic problems. We need to focus Geoffrey, and seek to encourage the thinkers in our society to bring intelligent ideas to the table. Religion and science don't mix, especially with a Roman Catholic Church that dominates the St. Lucian social and domestic landscape, but which continues to behave like the proverbial ostrich, no matter the dynamic social, economic and cultural realities. I commend you for your untiring and legitimate convictions about Dr. King's evident myopia, but we must seek to focus on this age-old issue with greater innovation, something only to be achieved by meetings of the minds, not just the religious yearnings of the souls.
