New drivers giving Gros Islet drivers a bad name

Sadly, this lack of customer service is prevalent in St. Lucia. I have witnessed several instances of Gros Islet bus drivers behaving in a rude and disrespectful manner towards their passengers. One passenger once asked a driver to slow down because he was driving way too fast. He responded by telling her she could get down if she did not like the way he was driving. She did not disembark, but I took the opportunity to do so. Some of the people dealing with the public behave as if they are granting customers a favor and the customer is not paying for the service. At the same time, there are some customers who behave badly. The bottom line is, we have very little respect for each other.

basically we need a monitored or regulated bus system. we need esp for gros islet ... bigger buses, form a cooperation among the gros islet route band drivers and owners and eliminate those who just drive without owning these vehicles they are the main culprits ..if a research is done i bet i am right..

with big modern buses, air conditioned, bus conductors perhaps, ample room for the disabled, cameras embedded and monitor switched on. pay as u enter with pay cards available.. With all this regulation now becomes paramount because it will be considered a business like any other and whoever slips up by poor customer service or dis-service these drivers can be reprimanded and banned allowing better individuals to be bus drivers,

THE gov is speaking about building 2 BUS TERMINALS .. nice but without a better, bigger modern buses ITS A WASTE OF TIME .. it becomes just a big car park or bus park where drivers can pee anywhere they can get a corner... I BLAME THE GOV FOR THIS PROBLEM CAUSE NEITHER SLP OR UWP, EVER ADDRESSED OR VERY POOOOR BUS SYSTEM...its 2012 the yr the world suppose to end..lol

There must be an avenue to report public transportation drivers who show disrespect and lack of courtesy to their "customers".

Isn't there a Gros Islet Bus Drivers' co-operative? Or Association"? Or a government department where one can lodge a complaint?

This gives me the zeal to personally look into this avenue - because I am not ready to take any rude bus drivers' callousness. If necessary, I WILL complain - either to his employer, or the authority in charge. As a paying customer, I will not sit by and allow a moronic bus driver to demean me. NO WAY!!

St Lucian "customers" are too laid back and placide, allowing the rude and ignorant to get their own way.

When I arrived in Barbados as a kid in 1960, there was already a Transport Board managing public transportation - big buses with drivers and conductors travelling all routes.

It is now 2012 and St.Lucia hasn't even consider such a system. Barbados is more than 100 years ahead of St.Lucia.

to 'anon 4:56pm: i disagree barbados is like 25 yrs ahead of stlucia.. i am saddened if your historical statement about barbados having buses and conductors and a regulated transport board SINCE 1960.... imagine that ..st lucia when will your ll wake up.. come on.. i use to compare st lucia with barbados a few yrs ago .. BUT NOT ANYMORE.. we now have GRENADA to worry about but and in the OECS not to burst st lucia's OECS leadership WE ARE 2ND BEHIND ANTIGUA is true in many areas of social and economic life.. so dont allow your naive patriotism to think we are #1 IN THE OECS.. we are 2nd GRENADA 3rd or is it ST.KITTS..
