Aiming for a higher caliber of political candidates

I believe that one of the answers to this problem would be to ensure that apart from electing intelligent people to parliament, we must also make sure that they are substantially wealthy, so that they do not come into government hoping to make their millions quickly. Although I remember Peter standing on the market steps in a meeting many years ago, and stating publicly that no politicians should stay in office for one term and come out broke. Yet with my idea, we still have a major problem, for who is to say that once they do come in wealthy, they themselves will not buy over our public assets. So at Abetta says, what we really need is legislation to prevent them from so doing.

You see why those hacks won't touch with article. There is too much truth in there. They rather consentrate on hate than asking their parties to present men and women of higher caliber.

We are in desperate need of a paradigm shift!

It's about time we decide who we want representing us at the polls. For too long we've allowed Political Leaders to shove representatives at us expecting us to vote for them whether we like them or not, all in the name of the Party. We need to break that cycle and start letting our voices be heard. We need to go on talk shows send letters to party leaders saying why we do not want these idiots representing us. Why do we allow politicians to manipulate us. Time and time I've heard "I'm voting for the man, not for the party" or "I'm voting for the party not for the man" . Well, we should be voting for the Party that puts the country first. We want leaders who look out for the people and not their pockets.

We need a party with competent leaders to see us through the tough times ahead.

Yes, indeed, that hawk that went to the American Mall- that dried-up, and the hawk saved it with a multi-million dollar office refurbishment, was forced upon us St. Lucians like death in the grave, and like a thief-in-the-night, by none other than the cursed JOHN COMPTON, But heaven helped us all. We must be vigilant, that that crap of forcing people like Ausbert D'Auvergne and Allen Chastanet on the people of St. Lucia, never, ever, happens again.

There is no need for letters. The people in Castries VOTED for a drug baron. The people in Choiseul VOTED for a jailbird. They had alternatives. Stay at home or vote for the alternative.

Today, we must support qualified independents like Didier.

In each case, in Csstries and Choiseul, a majority of voters voted for unsavoury characters. Look at what those characters got up to when they made it into government. The police cannot touch untouchables. Some of these nasty characters were even paraded in front of us by another as role models.

Then,an entire cabinet voted, eyes wide open, to leak money away from the Treasury to give to another cabinet member. All this theft is so easy that a very prominent member from the predatory mercantile community wants to get into the act. He wants the whole thing.

That one could not even remember that he had agreed to give concessions wrongfully to another cabinet member. He told the Appeals court that he was not present when the entire thing went down. The records showed otherwise.

Now he wants his chance to control the entire piggy bank. He wants to become PM. Talk about the fox guarding the hen house.

That other idiot having accidentally been crowned PM, makes fun of people who have studied something and can apply that to national problems. He does not even appear to have CXCs to his name. Now we all know why he could not appreciate the initiative and take advantage to train St. Lucians in the USA.

St. Lucians have to ignore the two major existing political parties. The leadership of the SLP and its followers only know one thing. That is to take the government and the jobs of the UWPs and hand it over to their own followers in the SLP.

It does not even make a pretence that it is not going to do the same things that it did last time. Look at their programme on the website. It says a lot of nothing.

These people are useless to the goals and aspirations of the youth and the masses. Some of us cannot wait to vote for the LPM.

Dear Anonymous dated Oct 17, 2010 3:08 PM,

Put party politics aside and be realistic. I will agree with your views on Ausbert, but on Allen...NO WAY.
What this country needs is 5 more people like him, men or women, as there is dedication to country wrapped around that man. Any party can push those down my throat and I would swallow it blissfully.
And to call Sir John a curse is a rightful shame, for no man has done more for this country of ours than him. Yes, he had his faults, and has done quite a bit of wrong, but to err is human. You would never hear a Bajan speak so of any of its past leaders, whether he was the worst man in the world. They are a proud people, which is what you and many of us are not.

Listen to this. And listen well.

If Allen was such a genius, Air Jamaica would have soared just as Jet Blue and other airlines are doing.

This man knows how to use/waste other people's money. Like the boxing promotion, and like the airline giveaway to bring people here.

He can do the easy stuff. Monopolize an entire sector, like the supermarket area of the economy. For that piece of genius the people pay price-gouging sums at the checkout.

Now he is a greed fella. He wants the whole thing. Imagine that with a record like the mega and Super Js, he wants to be PM. Man this like putting the fox in charge of the hen house.
