Taxi Operators want protection

Both transport sectors have the same expensive problem. Because they cannot manage their dispatch most vehicles travel empty in one direction at high speed in order to jump the line for the next passenger load. 10% slower driving saves 20% gas miles per gallon.

Slow down guys, save gas, save accidents, save money.

Manage your "Unions", "Associations" and dispatchers to discourage speeding, not encourage it.

The man who has weakened the Taxi sector by dividing them is now seeking for protection from government? That's very funny. The mini bus drivers need the subsidy simply because they provide a service to the public which really is the responsibility of government. In exchange the government should regulate them better and tax them properly. I actually believe that they should actually get the vehicles duty free and not the Taxi drivers. Taxi drivers provide a private service to the public while mini bus drivers provide a public service to the public.

I agree with the Taxi drivers. They interact with visitors everyday, doing their part to protect our tourism dollars. Shouldn't they get help from the Gov't too?

It's about time Gov't held minibus drivers accountable for the way they conduct their business. Most have no respect for passengers. Their vehicles are in a deplorable state. Some do not stick to their routes which inconveniences passengers. They fill the vans with more passengers than it should. They speed on the roads, showing no regard for the lives that they are responsible for. Do you know how many buses I had to get off prematurely to avoid a coronary thrombosis?

Who is monitoring these issues? If they are going to receive our tax dollars, they need to be held accountable!!!

I find the charges of taxis is a rip off and not a very good reflection on Saint Lucia. Maybe if they dropped their rates, more locals would use taxis.
I get very embarrassed when I hear tourist speak of what they paid for a 5 minute trip. US$20-00 one way, really????
I hate it when I get harassed by drivers when I walk out of shops.
