Well that will be encouraging rape, because many girls under 16 are having sex with men sometimes twice their age and so doctors are promoting carnal knowledge when they give children contraceptives and if doctors are caught I believe that they should be punished.
Whether we like it or not preteen and other students are having sex, even if we discourage them they will still have sex. And giving under sixteens the pill will reduce the teenage pregnancy rate on the island and because some of them have sex and get pregnant and do not know what to do so in order to prevent that we should just give them the pill.
I disagree with providing young children with contraceptives because if you provide children with contraceptives they will believe that you are giving them permission to have sex and even unprotected sex and that can trigger a rise in teenage pregnancy.
I don't believe that girls under 16 should be given contraceptives because it encourages more sexual activities. when the pills are distributed it will remove the fear of what might happen after they have sex especially unprotected sex.
Let the churches take care of the morality and the ethical issues. Let reasonable people take care of HIV/AIDS and unwanted pregnancies.
We MUST raise the profile of women in our society, and put them in a position to take care of themselves and the male-dominated arguments like increased vulnerability and lax morals.
The teaching and preaching are the duties of parents and the church. If both groups cannot stop the growth in the numbers of unwanted pregnancies and HIV/AIDS then we must stop doing, like the man said at the launching of the LPM in Gros Islet the other day, the same thing over and over and expect a different result.
That is a sign of insanity. Only mad people behave like this.
Men want virgins for wives after they have played the field. They are out there scoring and boasting about how many women they have slept with. Or they are out there telling their male friends how easy or hard this particular female is.
Sometimes, they even describe body parts to other males. Preventing females from having the contraceptive pill will not stop these practices.
It will help those females who fall victim to the wiles of such men from carrying babies for them. These men were only interested in scoring points. They are never interested in becoming fathers.
Hope that stricter child provision laws are coming soon to make St. Lucian men more responsible. Perhaps the only political party one can count on these days to respond to such needs of the people and women in society is the LPM.
It beggars belief that nothing changes,People can't even get the information right from the story, the last comment was right'isn't this about volunteering'. This is indicative of the ignorance of most the country. If a debate is about teenage pregnancies then let that be done, but at this moment who is going to help the community of Bexon.
We have a country with myopic leaders let alone leaders who can craft policies to benefit our young women. It would be disastrous if young women under the 16 be given the pill. First, society must understand that those young women in general do not have the emotional/psychological capacity to make the right decisions, far less, about sexual partners.
As a result, providing such avenues to become sexual active, at such a young age can only worsen situations with STD's and spread of HIV.
Educating our young men and women about sex in the school system and in families may very well be the first step to solving our high teenage pregnancy rate. It is high time that families that not equipped with the necessary skill to talk to their children about such matters be given the training to do so.
Congratulations! I am so proud of you. I knew you had in you, continue to be the best you can be. Let the sky be the limit. Remember always that the joy of the Lord is your strength.
I think it would be a great personal and professional accomplishment if the Director of Human Services starts a national debate to remove all forms of discrimination against children who are born outside of wedlock in Saint Lucia.
Only those who know little about business would stumble on such an erroneous conclusion.
The business mind does work towards the maximization of profit.
If Grenada's outlook is better with that objective in mind, the business mind will opt for the investment location that produces the greater (Grenada vs Saint Lucia) returns on investment (ROI).
Needless to say, the investment climate is extremely poor and unattractive, in terms of both economic outlook, and the state of this country's human capital and the human capital formation.
All other plans in or for Saint Lucia may be placed on hold, while or the rank and file in the two major parties eventually make up -- or continue to fail to make up -- their minds to remove the disturbing caricatures they -- up to now -- continue to maintain as political representatives and for party leadership.

-grandiose display in role of benevolent father caricature. - Bombastic display of homophobia

They will have it any way. So just give it to them and done.

That is right. All the other parties are status quo parties. Women have been promised a better deal under the LPM
Isn't this about volunteering?

What a foolish and asinine headline!

This is a refreshing and intuitive rendition of the way of the world today.
