If we live in a democracy, as we are lead to believe, why is it that we are so afraid of having local government elections.
Let us elect not select our councillors. That is the essence of true democracy. Local government elections serves as a barometer for the popularity and effectiveness of the party in power.
Party in power always sound sanctimonious when they put their henchmen and cohorts in the local councils. "Too much politics, too much halle-casse" blah blah blah... That is the nature of our contentious democratic traditions.
