The time has indeed come. But I believe it wil only prove what we have known all along, that organisations such as CAPS are plums for political supporters and a a waste of money for taxpayers. Maybe now that we have seen the result of all their hard work we will push for government to do something about it.
the actions by the police are about 10 years too late. now when things are in such a terrible state we want to act... we must learn to be pro-active. what was stopping the management of the police force from conducting regular raids on the trouble spots. its never too late, we cant let a bunch of "rascals" turn st. lucia into a little jamaica. this is my fourth year in jamaica and unless you have not experienced being under house arrest for a week and a half, not being able to go out to a community because of extensive criminal activity we wont understand. has anyone had the experience of driving through a road of fire to get to their place of residence? jamaica in the early 80's said it would all go away. look at jamaica now, averaging 1400 murders in the last 4 years. we need to have a zero tolerance policy on crime. st. lucia is a small place. this is an advantage for our police force. find the criminals and weed them out. there should be a raid every two weeks around the island. this can be an approach and i am positive it can bear results. i want to return to st. lucia knowing that i can take my 3 year old son to dereck walcott square and watch him ride around the park. we have to put an end to this immediately.

Set up patrolling groups in all communities.
Do not allow criminals to talk.
Finish them off.
