It is a shame that GOvernment gives 10 times more more money for Carnival than it gives to otganizations like CARE and Upton Gardens Girls Centre. we have our prioties all wrong in St. Lucia.

I understood that Carnival was a cultural event, then if that is so there needs to be a total rethink of what constitutes culture in St. Lucia. There is a wealth of dance and music from times past that does not necessitate people stripping to almost nothing and shaking their back sides, quite honestly its not even good to watch. We need to go back tyo the drawing board and insist that if people want to join a band they wear suitable attire, and the wagons/lorries decorated with somthing that St Lucians can identify with in their culture. What about all those lovley national costumes depicted through the ages?
The education system should be teaching pre and infants in school about the culture, encouraging children to learn the folk dances and the songs from the past. Do schools have the older generation into the school to teach the children living history, I doubt it because children often leave school only knowing how they can get money and to be selfish towards each other. St. Lucia you are drowning, take a good luck before its too late. Parent must start the process, society needs also to give a moral compass, goverments can be role models, people shuld be able to look at the police for guidance, the police should be retrained to be inspiring to the youth not their executioners.

Wow! Nothing about Kenny Anthony. Someone should check up on Mr Springer. Is he Okay?

Mr. Springer do not always have to waste his time writing about a country wrecker called Kenny Anthony.

You seem much relieved that Kenny was spared this time around. Take it as a gift because there is more to come.

By the way, don't believe that Springer is the only one who has the goods on Kenny.

Drink a few shots on that this week.

Which country did Kenny wrecked? How would you describe this present government in St Lucia?

Kenny wrecked the country, but this government is glad have a secondary and primary school place for every child in the country, they are glad to parade their carnival on the four lane highway with over head walks, to sit in the Stadiums when international events are held there, to full the new prison with criminals, they cannot finish a mental hospital which was 90% complete, they are glad to sit in the new office buildings, to use the new garbage dump etc, etc. The country was wreaked by Kenny but they found money to waste on a wreaked Daher building, they could have an over sized government, a ministry was found for all the loosing candidates and more, Sara and all he family is in New Yoke having a good time, with the government paying the expense, Hepples a Trini could get an oversized tax free salary in U.S dollars. Kenny wreaked the country but they could find money to pay house rent for King for about $4000 a month, when we are already paying an official residence for him, they found money to bail out the hotels, they found millions to carry out a useless inquiry, They could find money to build a statue for Compton, they found money to paved a good road in Conway, they could allow millions of dollars of our tax payer disappear from the tourist board, They are glad to detail the policemen and firemen to all the new stations around the island, to use the new health centers and change their names to wellness centers. etc, etc. If one could so much for us in St Lucia, in that hard times, just because he made some mistakes, and we can still claim he wreaked the country, then we do not know what we want. Please show me a government that does not make mistakes or has not made mistakes?

Someone once made the following observation.
Many of the societal deviancies that disrupt our families and communities are drunkenness, licentiousness, crude sexual displays, sexual promiscuity inclusive of outside of marriage, loutishness, hooliganism, a lack of self control and disregard for authority.
These are all traits of carnival displayed even on television by hundreds of St. Lucians yet our leaders and society in general continue to turn a blind eyes and talk of Carnival as being “we culture”.
Then we turn around and complain about crime in the streets and the breakdown of community and children having children.

What an utter joke.

What kind of crap you talking about? " If King say there is no carnival this year because tings hard" Who is king to say no carnival, King cannot even manage the country, he can ban carnival, the country does not belong to him anyway, he is working for the people. You fail to realise the value of carnival, Carnival is not a waste of money, the people pay to enjoy themselves, many people wait for carnival to make a bread to support their family. Carnival boast our tourist industry. I know personally many people who returned home for carnival, also many non St Lucian tourist came from the U.S, and elsewhere, not counting the Caribbean tourist. We had many bands from the french countries, that was also a boast to tourism. Talking about the quality, that is what carnival has turned out to be in all the popular carnival countries. In Brazil people flock there from everywhere just to see pretty women scantily dressed parading in the streets behaving bad. Carnival and feting is a great stress reliever, after things so hard in St Lucia, people cannot work everyday, go home and sit in a corner, and think about foolishness, the government is dong in the country, they will get sick, with high blood pressure, they must relieve the stress some how, and carnival is the way we do it in the caribbean. That is why people with money, go away as tourist.
King did not put any extra money in carnival anyway.

Let any politician or religion try and take Carnival away and you'll see, the people will send them in exile somewhere, perhaps the south pole.
