what crap!! Only in St.lucia. Such crap would never happen in Barbados which is more colonial than St.Lucia. St.Lucians need to stop seleling their arse for petty cash from sandals. No wonder they could never set up in Barbados...we had them flying like shite...!
sa la vie,,,only in St.Lucia what do you expect...when politicians are in businessmen pockets..trips here and there, hotel rooms and bars anytime all the time.....
People, no explanation is required. Queen's chain covers natural beaches only. The causeway is a manmade beach that was constructed precisely for the purpose of attracting investors who otherwise would not have had the chance to own a beach (or part of it) in St.Lucia. Because the causeway stayed undeveloped for so long, we got used to using it. There are several places in the Caribbean where private beaches abound; in fact, there are entire Caribbean islands e.g. Mustique and Necker Island that are owned by foreigners, so we are no-one's laughingstock. I am just as sad as anyone that Sandals and the Landings own parts of the beach, because I grew up going to the causeway 3 times a week. The real battle involves those beaches that ARE part of Queen's chain, and to which certain hotels are cannily trying to restrict access. Take a trip to Soufriere....
Well, well, well, that's the last straw. First of all, we all know that Bota is a stupid racist who probably wish he was born in the old South Africa or elsewhere where racism used to legally exist. As you know now, South Africa will never be the evil it was. And the presidents from Mandela onwards will always reflect the huge majority of South Africa. So Bota will always be a minority in St Lucia and South Africa. I've said it before St lucia has been on sale for decades. I do not give a damn if the causeway was man-made. The water that reaches it belongs to the people. St Lucia is has become a wimpy nation who is afraid to fight the parasite likes of Butch Stewart and others for what belongs to us. It is time for many changes in St Lucia otherwise it will be complete annihilation for this nation. This kind of treason better not touch any part of expats existence upon returning home. Butch Stewart's money and power and others like him will not be able to stop our wrath if any of our God given St Lucian rights are violated. Thousands of expats are not going to accept the new form of slavery that has been going on with "Mother Helen" for decades now. That is not a threat but a sacred promise. The "Judas" tribunal should be ashamed of their actions.
Bota McNamara ... South Africa ... Racist ... minority in St Lucia and South Africa ... huh ????? Dantes you left me bazodie with your opening "statements" ...
BOTA MCNAMARA is as St Lucian as you will ever get, Dantes, born at Victoria Hospital!!!! ... before you cast fingers, you should KNOW his mother; you should KNOW his father (a St Lucian!); before you make yourself look stupid, where Bota's birthright is concerned!!
And just like any other St Lucian lawyer - Bota is doing his job. It could have been Marcus Foster - defending Sandals (pitiful as it seems), but it's a livlihood - a "Judas" one, but ...
To the Anonymous who replied to my post, you should read it again because they did not get it. I know that Bota's mother is Caroline Popovic and I certainly know his father. The issue is the sale of St Lucia, not what I write. Focus on the story because you could't possibly tell me what to write/think or believe. Dantes
The allegations of a pay-off to the Tribunal is uninformed and unfortunate. The members of the Tribunal are as patriotic a bunch as you will ever find. The simple fact is that after the causeway was created, no law was passed to cede ownership of the "artificial" beach to the "Crown". This was probably the last thing on the Government's mind at the time. And Sandals is not to be blamed either. Remember Sandals was not the original owner of the property. Around the mid 1980s the Government created 2 recreational areas of 5 acres each at the eastern and western ends of the Causeway. We must be vigilant and not allow those lands to be taken away from us. The National Trust should ensure that these lands are properly vested in the Government and people of Saint Lucia.
CSI, U R a traitor too. That tribunal should be charged with treason, they are enemies of the state of Saint Lucia and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11. They need to be imprisoned.
It is troubling, to say the least, that St Lucia has started the journey down this road of exclusivity. What this ruling means is that land has now been removed from the public realm. Private concerns can determine who enters and who does not. So much for having 'escaped' the exclusion inherent in colonialism. This is a tragic precedent to establish, not only for St. Lucia, but for the entire region. Does this mean that women and men will need to seek permission from private entities in order to fish, should they earn their living by doing so? Where will this end? An absolute shame!

First private beach in St. Lucia. I demand an explanation from the Prime Minister.
I second you, Zeigy...an explanation is in order from the Prime Minister.
Queens Chain - now private!! What a joke St Lucia is...
And we wonder why there is so much crimes, buglaries, etc etc...It stems from the top, filtering to the bottom...
I second that, Zeigy...

Queens Chain now private and belongs to a foreigner. St Lucia is a joke and the laughing stock of the Caribbean.
And we wonder why there are so many crimes, robberies etc...it stems from the top and it filters down to the bottom...
