I could only Hope those responsible for the saftey of all St.Lucians read this article and take every word into consideration and implement accordingly.Mr.Josie Thanks and please continue to write on the subject.Seek a forum on TV and discuss those measures. Please i beg of you.As a citizen leaving abroad i applaud your approach and we need a hard stand and firece relentless approach to this absurdity.I am talking a about an IRON hand rule. Those criminals need to be pushed into the ocean where they will drown with their selfless hate of crime on a peaceful people. We also need a vigilante awareness group.I am talking covert action financed by a concerned St.Lucians.This is rough..And when the rough gets going the TOUGH gets going. The beat down should be so severe that when they think of attempting to drive by and shoot they have got to know that they will be caught within a mile radius .NO ESCAPE.We need swift action and a brutal one allowing no room for survival. No Court day for you. When we come for you .It's up.The Tax paying descent citizens cannot afford to pay for court hearings.Mr.Josie when one has roaches in the house ,lets say the kitchen. What one does he sprays the entire perimeter and spray to eradicate the entire population..Get my drift.I am afraid for my family and friends whom have talked about fear and going out..Let's do it.Thanks

I agree with your detail writing and wish to add there also need to be transparent system of accoutability accross all rank and file in the force to be able to root out the lazy onces in there for the salary and to abuse the public.

A simple system of of every corporal being responsible to supervise 17 named constables and a sargent responsible to supervise 10 Coporals and their cohort of seventen constables and the inspector 6 or 8 sargents on a monthly basis. These supervisions needs to be one to one discussions on a monthly basis, which offer support, guidance and review of work load and performance within a four to six week period. This will also involved setting targets, such as number of interactions with the public, arrests and cases in court.
With theses records supervisiors would be able to monitor individual workloads such as an individual attendance at court, cases dismissed or failed for lack of evidence or non attandance by the police. Thus enable the supervisor to identify the individual skills shortage and training needs such as gather evidence in the form of statement recording, presenting in court or planning annual leave so it limit impact on court attendance etc.
Note the supervision process must be entrench accross all levels for it to work and enable effective accoutability, development of all individuals accross the levels and to better address weaknesses with the Service as a chain is as strong as it weakess link.
