Look man, I wave the Maple Leaf every July 1st but that doesn't mean that I don't love the Land of my birth (Saint Lucia) and that I don't wanna see better governance.
#1 Earl cannot divide St Lucians any farther stop being bias, the political system as it is all around the word have divided people in different camps.
#3 Stop being a fool, we pay taxes in St lucia, Maybe we pay to much taxes. Which country can be run without taxes? The government tax the people in different ways. I will not name the different ways for you because if you are wise enough to type nonsense on the computer, you should be wise enough to do your research.
#5 We have 3 parties in St Lucia, and any person with a decent brain will KNOW the SLP is the best amongst them. The LPM will not be able to win a seat in the next election. So you that is not an idiot continue to vote for the non achievers in government today.
#7, My question was that Earl is claiming that since overseas St. Lucians do not pay income taxes, they should not be allowed to decide on representation. My question was should restricting their right to vote also apply to St. Lucians living in St. Lucia who do not pay income taxes either. What is the income tax compliance rate in St. Lucia?
Yes, there are other taxes being paid by St. Lucians in St. Lucia, but overseas St. Lucians do arguably pay taxes like say departure taxes, ticket taxes etc. They also use much less social services.
I live abroad but it is not right for us living overseas to dictate who leads the Country. Politics is local and locals are the ones feeling it so let them vote for whoever they want.

You only have to read this divisive fool to understand why Labour lost the last elections. The rancor, arrogance, the view to getting back at those who he disagrees with are all too apparent. After all this is the proto-Marxist and socialist apparatchik who knows how to get back at political opponents.
This writing and attitude reeks of moral corruption. This is why so many St. Lucians (who Mr. Bousquet distains) choose to move to other shores because they know that too many times in our history our lives have been in the hands of thugs like Mr. Bousquet. Many have died in the prisons of Cuba and are dying in Venezuela because of this mindset.
Keep it up Mr. Bousquet – it is so important to be reminded of the champagne that had to be put in storage in Dec 2006.

What is very crucial for St. Lucia's General Election is that there must be a new Chief Elections Officer. The staff at the Electoral Office knows why.
The Authorities had better move fast on this one. Or else, there will certainly be mutiny on St. Lucia's Ship of State.
SLP is the party of division and hatred. If it means dising St Lucians abroad in order to win an election they will do just that. What a useless group of people. How long before SLP realize that this isn't a strategy for winning. The people you are talking about have families back in St Lucia. Thousands of votes could be lost with a long distant dial come elections.

Is Earl working on behalf of the UWP. He must be why would he be pushing so many overseas St.Lucians like my self away. His arguments makes no sense. None what so ever. Me and four of my overseas friends have property in St.Lucia we pay taxes on our property. We travel at least twice a year to St. Lucia with our families....and pay air port taxes...last year I paid duty on imported goods to the islands.....I could go on.....lets hear it after the next election when once again Kenny makes an arse of people like Earl. People who spend time idling by the Sea Wall in Guyana are recovering potheads. They have nothing to offer but BS. That addled-brain is always talking crap from his Swiss Cheese brain.
Now he has something against those who left the overcrowded job market in St. Lucia to better their lives. He know so little about democracy that disguised communist, that St. Lucians abroad should have no say in the country's governance. Look at what all the landlubbers have been voting to parliament. Bousquet is a wreck. For all his years, he has little to show as accomplishments but BS pointless columns.
St. Lucians who left the comfortable cocoon of family and home in St. Lucia to further themselves abroad, have to be admired for the strength of character necessary to move away from that which is comfortable to venture out into a foreign world where even the weather is different from their tropical environment.
It is more a reflection of the myopic, insular, “small island” ignorance of Earl Bousquet who like others in St. Lucia are so quick to lambast people who were not born on Jeramie street or who spent more than 6 weeks abroad.
These people who contribute nothing but a maypuis and slanderous mindset to the country want to continue to keep it as backward as possible so they can continue to rape the country.
The people who went overseas ( some of who cannot even come back home because they are in the US illegally) are despised by the Earl Bousquets. Why ? Because overseas they have been exposed to new ideas and higher standards than that exhibited by the failed politicians and hanger ons like Kenny Anthony and Earl Bousquet.
The last thing they want is overseas St. Lucians whether from England, Canada or the USA to come back and subject these crass politicians to any kind of scrutiny based upon moral or democratic standards.
Bousquet wants to grace the pages of newspapers with his ugly mug and wants no dissent.
I may not for example be a supporter of the LPM but unlike bousquet I fully recognize their members’ righst as ST. LUCIAN CITIZENS to engage in the political process as also the rights of UWPs or SLPs abroad to come back and vote for their parties.
St. Lucia has really fallen down to its lowest common denominator when a character like bousquet is featured in a newspaper with such a venerable history like the Voice.

If Earl is comfortable with his cousins criminl background and thinks that St Lucia should be left to his causins party and an opposition party the SLP that no longer wants him, you think this is someone that people living oversea should take serious?
I think we also all remember how St. Lucians despised bousquet just before and after elections until they began to "tolerate" him in recent years.
During the reign of Kenny we learnt hatred and sarcasm and disrepect from the actions of the likes of Menissa Rambally and the writings of earl bousquet. these were the years when through the NCa the SLP wanted to develop garrison communities in the urban areas a la Jamaica.
Like a Chavez or Idi Amin or Mugabe the Earl Bousquets are tone deaf to the cries of their people. They see the suffering of their people only in terms of whether or not it affects their electoral chances.
With every one of the 300+ murders during the reign of kenny between 1997 -2006 all earl worried about was whether or not it would turn off the people and affect the chances of getting back into power.
Yes we have issues with the UWP but until we have a good alternative I will vote UWP anytime over the rogues waiting in the corridors to put us to the sword.
I read this article because of its title. The article was most intersting if partisan until I came to the paragraph of diatrbe about the involvement of non resident st Lucians in the nations politics.
I was on the brink of annoyance until Irealised the article was penned by an individual, who after a visit to one on the oldest cultures in the world rich in history his only comment was pertaining to the sexual anatomy of chinese women - sick or what!
Ialso remembered that this individual was languishing in the jungle of Guyana when Kenny rescued him that Kenny was in Barbados when the wise men requested him to come back and lead the party.
And finally let it be remembered that there are a number of non resident Lucians who contribute to the economy either by paying house and land tax or by significant contributions to they fanilies.

We have a government in St Lucia today who have only made mistakes from day one, but people like you want them to stay in office. Praise God we in St Lucia are much smarter today, because the SLP have provided a SCHOOL PLACE for EVERYONE of us, if the older ones cannot read or write, one of our secondary student in the home will explain to them. In your UWP days School places was for the rich and was rationed for the poor. We will NEVER make a MISTAKE twice.

All I would like the lame brained Earl to do is to go the the statistics department and ask my friend Mr. St. Catherine for information on the percentage of St. Lucia's GDP accounted for by remittances (in case you do not know what that means - monies sent by St. Lucians abroad to their families. Barrels, parcels etc are also included).
He will find that it is a significant amount and helps the St. Lucian economy tremendously.
He wouldn't know that because he never sent a penny to anyone in St. Lucia when he was in Guyana. It just was not possible the currency is valueless and he only made enough to survive.

The term" educated fool" comes to mind,when I think of Earl Bousqet.However,Kenny must take responsibility for this buffon. It was Kenny who made him government spoke person.I have a lot of respect for Kennys intelect,eduication etc which we are always reminded of. However,Kennys judgement must be called into question. Bousquet's writings are as much thuggery as the murders in the streets of Castries and both actions are indications of incivility than abounds in St. Lucia.
It was during the reign of the SLP when St. Lucians particularly young men without any guidance because of absent fathers in the home, began to see money disappearing like water from the government treasury.
$10 million here , $10 million there.
They saw the disregard for life and proper civic discourse when Kenny and Co rammed legislation down the throats of people to push abortion.
The saw the scampishness of the rochamel deals and how the gov tried to cover up the waste of money.
That saw SLP bigwigs who bounced checks one year suddenly having money to buy land at Cap estate.
They saw the theft and chicanery at the NCA. $40 million for so.
It was during that period that crime went up and murders went from 15 to 20 to 25 to 30 to 35 to 40 per year.
What did you expect when characters like bousquet were the face of the party with vicious writing like he showed in this article.
It would seem that Earl Bousquet comments about Lucians resident abroad involvement in local politics is offical SLP policy as Kenny Anthony silence on the issue. Message for Kenny don't come to New York seeking our support when the election is called. Shame on you Kenny you and your cronies are destroying George Charles honourable party.
Bousquet say his thing and all these bias UWPees start jumping on Kenny back, as if it was he who said it, or him who told Bousquet to write what he wrote. We have to learn to let go, Bousquet was the government press secretary in the last government, he was a civil servant, he worked for the government. There is no saying that he will be re employed in that position in the future. The last time i checked Bousquet is not a spokesman for the SLP, Mr George Eugene is the official spokeman of the SLP. Bousquet holds no position on the SLP executive. As far as i know Bousquet is a private citizen. Anything he write, he does it as a private citizen, not as a representative of the SLP.
I believe that Kenny is accustom to be blamed by the UWP for everything wrong that is going on in the country. They had a field day blaming Kenny for everything, to win the last election. Now hey are in office, nothing is better, they have further messed up everything, the country is far worse than when Kenny was in office, they have stalled all the good development started by Kenny, the crime situation they promised to stop and blamed Kenny for, has climbed up to record levels, the banana industry they promised to restore has gone farther down the drain. After 4 years they still looking for ways to blame Kenny, but that will not work. This time they will be dead for good, because is no more Odlum or Compton to raise them from the dead.
