Sentence was too light. That can never serve as any deterrent not to repeat the offence.

These fellows with these short sentences love prison, the more you give these fellows short sentences the more we encourage in St Lucia. The only fellows who get to hate prison are the ones with very long sentences. Two years is only serve 18 months, that come so fast, and he will be back on the prison compound.

That bid month moron Herman is singing for his supper, making excuses for the government talking about the prison have to compete with schools, hospitals ands roads. when the government is wasting so much of our money by buying derelict buildings, renting expensive office space for an ex convict, renting an expensive house for King, etc, etc. Herman himself should should put measures in place to make the prison self sufficient, there is to much idle land and prisoners at Bordelais. Make the prisoners work.

People stop spewing up garbage. This is not the Deglos dump! If you must blog then do so sensibly.
The charges were centred around hiding a prohibited item on the prison premises. The guy did not get charged for possession of the drug or for his intent to distribute. So read carefully then blog please. As for why his sentence seem to be so light, that is all the law would allow.

Bordelais is full enough to the brim with people, we don't need any more people being incarcerated for lengthy periods....what purpose will that really serve?

To those who think that people just love jail: These people only seem to love jail because after a period of time spent there the only ones they can identify with are those inside. Why, we have a tendency to ostracise them after they have served their time and the "jailbird" stigma remains with them. We go out of our way to make life unbearable for them and they carry that name tag forever. Even families turn their backs when their loved ones have gone to prison. How then do we expect them not to re-offend? Most of the time they re-offend because society makes it difficult for them to readjust. Then we have the nerves to stand in the street corners and sit in our sheltered living rooms and bemoan the fact that these guys want to help their friends in jail or do not care if they get caught trying to make a buck or two carrying contraband in to the prisons.
We are such hypocrites!

The problem is, we who are without sin often find it easier for us to demonstrate our philistine attitudes rather than try to break the cycle that creates such occurrences. We seem to believe that others are bent on making excuses for those we deem unacceptable to society because those others are in cahoots with them. But if we only took the time to consider the factors involved in these situations then we would stop acting as if we were the only saints left on earth. We have got to stop this finger pointing and think up ways to build our country not destroy it. Why do some of us think that bigger jails and longer prison terms and executions will solve all our problems? Please let us overcome that "small island mentality for once" shall we?

As for Hillary Herman and his constant harping about lack of resources at Bordelias, he need to conjure up some way to make his current resources work. At this point in time I hardly think that more resources for the smooth running of Bordelais is a priority in Saint Lucia.
