Calixte Leon, Saint Lucia’s Financial Services Director, who gave the feature address at Friday’s launching gave the nod of approval to CAPITA and urged the company not to contribute to the financial problems of Saint Lucia but rather be part of the solution to the financial problems plaguing the country.

Where do we get these idiots from?

Isn't the role of government to put the regulatory framework in place so that egregious blunders like CLICO should not have happened or will not ever happen again?

Urging a financial intermediary not to be a problem is like Dr. Anthony asking the criminals to St. Lucians a break at Christmas time.

If the regulatory framework is weak, or is not in place to protect the investments of citizens, when will those imbeciles in this UWP administration ever get it is necessary to have this done and very quickly?

I take it that they do not teach such things in the PENITENTIARY in the US. But the jailbird in King's cabinet wants to be PM.

St. Lucia is really idiot country.

Why do you write the same endings all the time?..I really resent your constant reference to st lucia as "idiot country" ...when we are fighting for it to be referred to "as nobel laureate country" ...let us be positive here .. "set the bar and say people are falling short of that bar' .....rather than castigating/labeling everyone in St Lucia as idiots.... I AM A ST LUCIAN

The world recognizes Nobel Laureates. The blogger is right. In St. Lucia, idiots recognize other idiots and put them in office. Now isn't that true?

to "Mr Idiot" ... there is a big difference between a CO-OPERATIVE CREDIT UNION and an INSURANCE COMPANY. As an "intelligent" person, you should know this.

" ... the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited (BPWCCUL), acquired the Mortgage and Finance port folios of CLICO ..." which means they SAVED CLICO's assets.

I am very grateful for this venture.

Now, tell me Mr Idiot, why do you refer to Mr Leon as an idiot? Why do you insist on referring to US ST LUCIAN's as idiots?

I take great offense at your name calling. I am PROUD to be a St Lucian, because we DO have St Lucians who instill PRIDE in us. I leave you to name them, and you'd better come up with the right names too!!

Hint: We have sportsmen and women, artists and entertainers, architects and technicians, economists and educators, entrepreneurs ... and the list goes on ... all these PROUD St Lucians!! Notice, I did not mention politicians?!?

You know what Mr Idiot? From now on I shall refer to you as Mr "Hideous Idius" - you deserve the moniker, wear it with pride!

All of you people who have commented here sound educated. Rather than putting pressure on the Government while trying to ensure a brighter and more secure future for yourselves and your kids, you engage in may-pwe over an article. You people are the reason why the country is in this mess. You have failed the youth of this country.
I’m a proud saint Lucian. It’s so sad that our predecessors were able to do so much being so-called uneducated while we call ourselves educated and do so little. Who are the idiots now? We have work to do, an economy to fix and a 40% youth unemployment rate. STOP ACTING LIKE KIDS. I’M ASHAMED OF ALL OF YOU!!

Do you believe that the drug lords, jail birds, liars and crooks have any solution to the 40% poverty level or the 20% unemployment? Give me a break!

Amen @ the comment before the above...

Like I said: I’m ashamed of you all of you!! I won’t join you in this unproductive conversation. I read the news to keep abreast now I’m off to something else. Continue being unproductive if you want. You just continue to magnify the truth that you people have failed. I’m going to do something now to ensure that your retirement does not get eaten away by inflation. Are you going to sit here commenting all day? Well that’s fine if it’s your job!!
THANK YOU (AC)

Mr. Man, you have a very exaggerated opinion of your importance in the scheme of things. Inflation in St. Lucia is coming mainly from what is imported from overseas. We do not have any control over the cost of overseas production.

Their unit production costs go up. Their product prices rise. Their labour cost go up. We import. We import the inflation. That simple.

We can moderate that imported inflation by keeping our own food costs down and our labour productivity up.

We could monitor important trends by anticipating the inflation trends especially in China and India. These are two important newly industrialized economies to watch. They consume a lot of resources and produce especially China a great deal of what is produced in the world.

But I think not. St. Lucians are a very unsophisticated lot. Our local media is just too busy encouraging people to accept dollar bills, some food and rum in exchange for votes.

And if the last four years are any indication of what is to come, I feel very very sorry for the rest of us. The devil will continue to take the hindmost.

I too might also call him "Hideous Idius" but even that Latin-like title gives him too much importance and value. Frankly, I prefer 'super-idiot'- the opposite of Superman.

With so many people following Juke Bois, ignorance is bliss. It is folly to be wise among so many ignoramuses. Is it any wonder that the majority of St. Lucians sound like Juke Bois and Haitians?

Shorter Anonymous #11: St. Lucia is idiot country.

Now I'm quite sure that guy who calls Lucians idiots in all his blogs is NOT A REAL ST LUCIAN. In fact, HE WANTS ST LUCIA TO BE DESTROYED.
Just ignore him!

Why is he allowed to do it in the VOICE and not in the STAR? It appears that the VOICE is an anti-UWP newspaper.

The last PM who tried to muzzle the press lost the next election. Go tell all the idiots in Government this much. They including the Speaker do not know how to use parliament for the benefit of the citizens.

Like the blogger said it well, St. Lucia is primitive and idiot country and is losing its patina of sophistication on a daily basis.

Only in African countries, tribal areas of the world, and backward theocracies like IRAN, should people ever have any fear regarding calling a non-performing government a pack of idiots.

We have an African slave mentality. Our so-called leaders go cap in hand begging around the world. We get 'keep the idiots happy' projects like th Planet Centre, but our real problems of poverty, unemployment and crime just keep growing.

Did someone say that St. Lucia is idiot country?

I am St Lucian. The blogger is quite right - St. Lucia is idiot country. Why else, if not idiotic, would a half sensible person elect the likes of jailbirds and excon par excellence, drug lord, liars et al into government and hold positions of importance?

And so I will join the blogger to say, St Lucia is idiot country, indicative of whom the elect to parliament.
