Very sad story. This is heartbreaking...words fail me. These dumb kids just don't get it. Thats what these idiots call keeping it real. Why don't they keep it 100% with their selves. The last time I checked the streets of Castries offer nothing but death and destruction.Again It's about time they eradicate the dirty, digusting, eyesore CDC's and make way for new offices stores, mall etc.I was nine when I left St.Lucia thirty-six years ago and off and on when I take a Cruise and make a stop home it's the first thing I see the stinking CDC I tell my husband it is a landmark. The old CDC buildings are not as awful as you describe them. Why should they be torn down? I think that they should be left for their archeological and architectural value, eg the picturesque wooden frames on some of the CDC windows.Malls are generic and can be found in all big cities of the world. We need to preserve the older buildings as they give the city character.Perhaps a better idea would be to prevent loitering in the CDC area.

Hope you are not writing from the USA as the US has some of the most "dirty" and "disgusting" buildings I have ever seen!If you are writing from Europe, I will pardon you, as most of Europe (with the exception of the UK) is quite clean and pristine.

I too live in a developed part of the world, but am never embarrassed when I visit St Lucia with my spouse etc. What you should be ashamed of is the level of crime in St Lucia, not the CDC buildings!

That is just crazy and I thought the Cayman Islands was bad...I aint coming back to Lucia, no not me....

You got to be a CDC rat or you still have families living in that filthy place. How in the hell can you tell the person who left their comment that the CDC'S are not awful? You have the aduacity to say that cesspool is archeological and architectural value? I do not want to see the dump you call home whereever you are and what if he/she lives in the US whatever happens to freedom of speech you imbecile.May be you are from the Country side because everyone from Castries I know like myself hates these public nuisance the City needs a change big time them dirty old apartments got to go.Crime is global think about it just that St.Lucia is too small to have so many murders per year.Wake up man/woman and smell your coffee.

Start a community policing program in St. Lucia, create jobs for teenagers using private business and government resources, start community outreach programs for troubled teens these are some of things that will drop the crime rate and better the quality of life for young people.

Why did you choose to get so personal with your comments?
I expressed my opinion on a certain matter and I did not expect to be verbally abused by someone who knows little about me!
You do not have to agree with my comment, but please show some civility and class in your response!

No, I am not a " CDC rat", and I am most certainly not from Castries.I do however own property in Castries; your land of milk and honey, so it is in my best interest that the city be CAREFULLY reconstructed. Randomly knocking down all old buildings to erect new generic ones,is not the answer.

I actually lived at Rodney Bay when I resided in St Lucia. Perhaps you would consider Rodney Bay "country side", but I would rather be raised there, than in Castries (your land of milk and honey). And no, my parents are not from the "countryside" either, as whole generations of my family have been raised in the north of the island.Possibly, in the future , when you feel like getting out of Castries, you may have to purchase some land from my family! How about that???

You sound like one of those semi-literate ,inner-city St Lucians who I purposely stayed away from my entire life in St Lucia.I therefore do not even know how to respond to your verbal attack, as I have no experience defending myself against your type.

"I do not want to see the dump you call home whereever you are..."
With a graduate degree in a relevant field, you can be assured that wherever in the world I am, I most certainly do not live in squalor. But anyway, thank you so very much for your concern.

I can't even believe that I have stooped to your level, but sometimes,"the only way to beat the dog is to act like the dog".

The CDC has rats. Some have four legs. Most have two.

The area is represented by one which has two. Wharf Rats have a higher status. That's the reason for the stink.

When you get to the CDC you know you're in town. You definitely know urine town. You've got to know better in order to do better. Stinkers!

There are some persons who comment on these blogs and are always trying to make it sound as if they are better than those persons who hail from the "country side". Newsflash: YOU ARE NOT!

Being raised "up north" does not make you better than have more class than or be more sophisticated than someone from "down south" Your pseudo-elitism is pathetic and distasteful.

You look down on your own people forgetting that people in these developed countries look down on you and consider you to be at the bottom of the barrel along with all those country-side folks you mistakenly think yourself to be better than

I am perfectly aware that in the developed countries, no distinction is made between St Lucians from "up north",and those from "down south". We are all grouped together as IMMIGRANTS, and as such, we find ourselves in the lower strata of these societies.

The only reason I mentioned where I was raised was because someone here kept insisting that I was raised in the CDC buildings or in the "countryside", all because I made a comment suggesting that the CDC buildings should not be torn down. Am I not entitled to an opinion?

It was never my intention to offend the rest of you, but come on, if someone starts insulting you as much as this person insulted me here, wouldn't you fight back?

The only reason you live up north my Dear is simple. You can distribute all your devils dundruff that destroy our youths and to buy all the property in the City.Rodney Bay has a very bad reputation not a nice place to live anymore.

What is it with you people? Your reading comprehension skills suck!I left St Lucia years ago, to further my education, and never came back.

Do you know why I never came back? Because I am so dissatisfied with the way drugs have taken over St Lucia ;everyone wants to have a good life without working hard for it.It got to a point where because of the encroaching drug culture there, and the violence which comes with it, I felt unsafe in St Lucia.

My family is certainly not one of the nouveau riche families who have only recently moved up to Rodney Bay. No, we have been there for quite a while and both of my parents are university educated, so they can certainly support themselves legally. They can certainly account for every cent of their income! It was pretty unsettling to me to have shady characters move into the neighbourhood who in most cases can't account for their "wealth."

You are taking it much too far by insinuating that I sell drugs.Revert to my previous posts; do I sound like I sell drugs to you? Do I even live in St Lucia currently? Let me inform you that I was a model St Lucian citizen when I lived there. The type who always performed well academically, went to the best schools there, had a lucrative career and paid my taxes. My whole family was the same way, and we were never a burden on society!

You need to control what you say in your posts.Wish I could find out who you were,to possibly take legal action against you; it would be a long shot, but it would still be worth the try!

Another thing, instead of wasting money going out to the various "fetes" every weekend, as a young person I invested that money in my education and in property. So far, I have been reaping the rewards of that choice.

Why don't you try it?
