Of course he is going to win his seat. But then, can will he be seen in the eyes of SLP folks as having the crediblity to continue to lead the SLP for another 5 years?

What has this woman got to say that has not been said before? She reminds me of these opportunists that we have in St Lucia, who travel a bit, complete a thesis and have a doctorate confered on them and finally taking up residence in places like Micoud and other environs so they can brag and show off to people their educational accomplishments.
These chancers think of nothing else but themselves. The word narcissist springs to mind.
Only a prozac-minded optimist will assume that these sophisticated individuals will serve the interests of the people they purport to represent.Politicians by their very nature are wheeler dealers and backscratchers. They will do anything for the electorate to vote them in power.
Micoud needs someone from one of it’s many hamlets who is born and bred and very much active in it’s state of affairs. Someone who knows what Micoud wants and is not afraid to speak out. Someone of valour and probity. Someone by the people, with the people and for the people.Academic honor at this stage is immaterial.Once he/she is literate and articulate then that will do it for the people of this picturesque village.
A prime example is the Right Hon. Stephenson King. He may not have a PhD but he is articulate, sharp, polished, charismatic and gives the people what they want -Representation. King is the consumate politician.He is truly a man of the people.
It’s a pity the same cannot be said of little Miss showboat who seems to be more concerned about demonstrating her educational prowess than it is to win over hearts and minds whom will soon be forgotten in the event that she becomes MP.
The UWP from my understanding has very few PhD holders compared to Labour who is populated with erudite folks. She may feel demobilised and disenchanted after a while and decide to jump ship to be with the others of scholarly attainment. Men like Dr. Anthony, Dr. Pepp, Dr. Lewis. The UWP need to be vigilant as there is every possibility of this happening.
We don’t have to go far to take notice – The current incumbent Janine Compton is a prime example. She resigned from the party which gave her a chance. Neville Cenac was another bottom feeder. Someone once said politicians will promise you the earth but will give you the sea instead.
The people of Micoud need to wake up and demand proper representation. Someone who can connect with the people not some fly-by-night poseur who is all in it for herself and her cohorts. Wake up Micoud and the rest of St Lucia. We need more Stephenson Kings.

Sorry, but this lady sounds a bit boastful and egoistic to me.On another newspaper,she actually said that she was "educated" and that she has had "exposure", so that makes her qualified to run for elections.By "exposure" I am assuming she is referring to the fact that she has lived in the UK and in one of the territories where UWI is located.
Living and working in these countries does not immediately qualify as exposure. I would not consider most St Lucians living in the UK and the USA as having international"exposure."See, most of those St Lucians in the US and UK work and live in West Indian enclaves (communities)with hardly have any exposure to the true American or British culture.It is as if they are still living in a little St Lucia in the US and UK. Should this be considered international exposure?
What counts as true "exposure" to me, is having strong ties to the native population in these countries, and by so doing,being well integrated into that culture.This way, one can learn how the local culture (American,British,German etc) operates, and pick up the positive values from that culture.
Additionally,what type of person goes around saying outright that they are "educated?" Sounds like a foolish comment to me.In this country where I now live, most people with doctorates do not even bother using "dr" or it's equivalent in the language in front of their names.They also very rarely refer to themselves as "doctor X,Y,Z." Calling oneself "educated" here would be considered uncouth and silly. BTW, this is in a developed, first world country , less any of you think I am referring to a country where doctorates are spewed put by the thousands and can be paid for.
Lastly, why is this lady encouraging more single parent families by promising to "help" single mothers? She seems no different from the rest (SLP and UWP politicians). In her effort to gather votes,instead of trying to eradicate the problem at its roots, she is tacitly encouraging it. Why not promise instead to set up "advice centres" where counseling can be given to young people, where info on birth control can be given, etc in an effort to reduce pregnancies , and consequently the number of single mothers in that community?
I am not saying that single mothers should not be helped, but to me it would be more beneficial to the country in the long run, to prevent those unwanted pregnancies in the first place.
