PeLay,
You worked with all those airlines in an executive position and you're not aware of Economics 101; supply and demand?

You want to regulate the poor man who burst his nuts to bring the coconut by the roadside for sale? where are you going to stop? Will you also include the crabbers after a rainy spell? Because they are taking away all the scavengers from the swampy areas? Lighten-up man, this is what makes St. Lucia uniquely St. Lucian!

If there is a demand for coconut water the price will go up! The opposite is also true.

Have no fear, Chastnet will bring you coconut water from Singapore etc., in the nut! for a better price too! We may still have to pay more for coconut based coking oil, but that is a slightly more complicated matter involving oils and fats agreements and ACP countries.

Lets stick to calypso, dlo co co, and LIAT!

I will not even take my time to comment to on Pelay because he is an idiotic political hack. With all the problems and corruption we have in high places in St Lucia he choose to taget the poor man who are trying to make a decent legitimate living in the country. I suppose it is easier to step on the toes of the poor. He will need favours from people like Frederick so he will never write about them.

Finally I know someone feels the same way that i do. I do understand that our society is faced with much graver woes than the hike in the price of coconuts, but is when we allow small things like this to pass un-noticed that they spill over into bigger and more serious things. Becuase if he can get away with increasing the price of his nuts un-noticed, then i can increase the price of the rice in my shop and so on. it is important that we have regulations to ensure fair economic practices. Remember a stitch in time saves nine.

Yes we should only regulate the small poor man, "yes small things" only the small man is sent to prison. I will tell you if you want to distroy a snake you cut off the head, if you want distroy a tree you disturb it roots, you would cut of the branches and the tree will still grow. Nothing is regulated in the big establishments in St Lucia. We just have to accept the price increases on a daily basis. Gas prices has gone down at the pumps in the USA by more than US$1 and it has only gone down a few cents in St Lucia. So what has price of coconuts have to with raising the price of rice? If you have a shop your prices are regulated, it is against the law to sell your items at any price you chooses. That is what that is happening so the poor coconut vender has to raise his coconut prices, the shop owners break the law by raising their prices at will. So to be able to buy from these shops they raise their nuts prices. How many nuts should a nut vender sell or have to carry to make a decent living anyway? Think of that
