Thanks for writing a much needed article. Very balanced and non-partisian. Election are about choices as you indicated. Elections are led by party leaders and that also helps indicate who canbetter deliver good governance and prosperity for our island. Taking the two party leaders which one is better suited and qualified to think out of the box and create a better St.Lucia on the many different levels that demonstrates progress and advancement in the world. Let us review the conduct of the Ministers of this government and the previous government. Which administration has brought more shame on themselves and the country. Do we not think that the conduct of our ministers are observed by our international friends and those we have to do business with. The confidence that they recive from their briefing notes on our ministers must be one for worry. I hope your readers take their lead from your well thought out article.

Because illegal Taiwanes' monies ($120,000,000 according to to Allen Chastanet) are changing hands in the UWP camp, it has attracted every imaginable misfits (even the Lord boss from the underwordl); ruffians, vagabonds, tax evaders, ex-cons, drug-lord (to enrich themselves, shamelessly, even more), unethical doctor that sold his patient's medical records for a profit, illeterates/semi illetrates liar under oaths, per the high courts...and the list goes on - endlessly!!

@#3...which grass-roots are you refering to; is it the same un-employed grass-roots that were promised 7,000 jobs by your UWP government? and up to now, after 5 years in office, not ONE single job can be boasted of?

Are you serious? Any grass-roots voting for this UWP needs their head examined. That I can tell you, cuz I am grass root - and the majority of us WILL NOT VOTE UWP cuz they are not alligned with our plights or they choose to turn their heads the other way.

You are surely and clearly not good in the head, somehow.

An interesting article indeed, Itotally agree with the sentiments expressed by yhe author.
For the sake of the future of the country , it is absolutely essential that us as voters revaluate our modus for selecting our representitives, being inflenced by rum, money chiken, false promises ,and because we have always done so needs ejected.
We must now determine our voting actions by firsttly, the integrity of the candidate, competency, leadership skills, compassion, and a dsire to improve the quality of life of all the people.
Government in power must be evaluated on their performace in government, on the economy, crime, employment, improving the infr-structure, international relations, tax.
The question we must ask is in the above how has the current administration performed is the economy vibrant, is crime on the decrease, are more people in employment, has our quality of life improved, has the quality of our childrens education improved?
We have to vote for improvement, move away from personality politics, and choose representatives who will seve us with integrity and pride.

agree agree ,with the above. We have to revaluate how we select our MPs. Ihave been extremly disappointed with the government which Imust admit , I voted for. Idid so because my parents always voted UWP and felt I should continue the trend.
This time I will vote not on historical actions but which party team Ifeel are best equiped to serve the country - we should all do the same forget party think country.

We as a nation must take responsibility for the quality of our responsibility for the quality of our representatives
It was us who voted for an incompetent PM, It was who voted for a MP who had a shady past in Cananada, employed a illegal imigrant, committed motor vechicle crimes attempted to to steal from the government by not paying appropriate duty on imported goods. It was us that selected a convicted felon, It was us who voted for an individual of suspect reputation who has now his diplomatic and personal visas to the USA revoked.
May be this time round we will be more discering in our selection of our representatives.

Idont like Kenny Anthony, Iwould quicker choose Kingee as a friend.
However, when it comes to the position of PM there is only one choice and that is Kenny Anthony, even I dont like him, there is no doubt in my mind that Kenny is undoubtedly the most competent of the two.
To ensure we get the most effecient government we must forget personalities and vote for those who will serve us best.
Those who will put the interest of of the people above personal gain, men and women of integrity, those with proven skills and ability.

A much needed article. I think that St. Lucians are not as foolish as before voting for a party because of family loyalties to a party. This generation cannot be deceived as easily as we think with bribes of a few hundred dollars, rum and chicken.

The younger generation are not oblivious of the pain and marginalization received at the hands of this current government for 4 years. They are aware of the deceit and bribery passed down as good gestures from our leaders, when in truth and in fact they are simply political ploys.

People beware our younger generation and persons that have been sidelined by this government will vote in their best interest.

As for me and whole bunch of former UWPees, we will vote Dr. Ubaldus Raymond for progress and competent leadership.

Stop talking shit, all like you supported John Compton when he was wrecking havoc on St. Lucia with all his CROOKS in high places. So shut your rass and go to hell, where hypocrites like you belong.

The best way for EVIL to flourish is for good men to sit by and say nada.

So now go to hell.

Which Kenny Anthony that puts the people before his person gains?

The one who was around during the NCA

The one that was around during the ROCHAMEL?

The one that was around during the fingerprinting of people, the plan when they voting?

The one who was around during the Helenites building in New-York sold on St. Lucian people heads.

The one that was around during the massive cost over runs on the so-called road development, and Finisterre look like he now loco?

The one that was around during the Ramsahoye Commission of Inquiry?

Are-wa-ooh-car-bye-blag. Oh no you joking.

To the poster above @ 8:51 p.m.
It is fools like yourself that are like proverbial ostriches with their heads buried in the sand. For those like you no amount of criminality or wrong doing will get your blidfolders off when it comes to voting for the UWP. and if you are one of the few to benefit from their favours and criminality this st. Lucian like many others in the majority are clearly not of your ilk. Remember 1997?? The UWP should damn well be prepared for a repeat because the Saint Lucian public as patient and impatient they have been have decided to declare electoral war on the UWP!! Be prepared for causualties like yourself as you become relegated to calvary of the bitter and the disappointed!

So true, above. Why people opens the mouths to spill absolute rubbish is really beyond me.

If the blogger before you cannot contribute wisely, so that one will form an impartial, balanced and informed decision, why the heck he just don't shut up and let those who are trying a make a valid point do their things?

God!!! a computer and a key board at the hands of fools!!
