No place for "dictators"? It depends on whose dictator you are.
If you are the Western world's "son of a bitch" they defend you until they can do it no more - witness how they handled the Mubarak/Egypt situation. If they always wanted to get you because you have oil which they have not been able to control and you have assisted third world counties that they have had in economic servitude they declare you the most brutal dictator, they mount a military campaign against you using some so-called rebels as cover and overthrow you.
A US/NATO alliance and not the people of Libya overthrew and murdered Quadhafi. look at the miserable performance of these "rebels" before NATO's consistent regime changing bombing campaign - rebels whose political and ideological colours are, by the West's own admission, unclear and in some cases even suspect
Do you really believe that they really cared about whether Qadhafi murdered his own people? these were the same preachers of human rights who said let the Israelis finish what they had begun when the Israelis murdered more than 1000 Lebanese civilians in a week (Tony Blair). The Israelis repeated it in Palestine a year or so later!
So while I agree that politicians should lead by example, let's not run the risk of glorifying the selective regime change agenda of the West - this has nothing to do with good governance and human rights. It's just naked geopolitical power for which they will kill thousands of their own as well as others (witness Iraq).
And as for Saint Lucia let us be clear that the bunch of rogues we have here need to be booted out! and do not mistake what I have said to mean that the US has some how done Richard Frederick an injustice - Frederick is surely no freedom fighter!

Another "leader for life" down. The world has changed and there is no place for dictators and wannabes.
