With a population of about 8 million, New york City recorded fewer homicides in 2011.

To Anonymous 209 Homicides for the year and still counting is pretty high considering the many advancement in law enforcement that is at the New York City Police hands so please do not compare St. Lucia to any other country
@ Above, man do your math. 209 homicides in New York out of a population of 8 million, plus 50 million visitors in 2011 is much, much, much better than the 50 homicides St.Lucia recorded out of a population of only 170,000.
12 of the homicides were also done by police... St. lucia had 38 murders... in NYC they don't count police shootings, security guard shootings etc as murder unless someone is charged with murder or could be charged with murder.
@ Above, don't matter how you try to window-dress it, the murder RATE in St.Lucia is higher than the murder RATE in New York City. Period!!!

If St Lucia is the murder capital of the world, what would we call Jamaica, murder capital of the universe? When did St Lucia attained that title anyway?
Somebody asked who the hell is Kenny Anthony? The last time I checked he was our PM for 9 yrs and now he is the PM of St Lucia again. As a matter of fact he is THE BEST PM IN THE HISTORY OF ST LUCIA. When I look at the amount of development Kenny did in St Lucia in just 9 yrs, no other PM did that in 30 long yrs. All I could say is prove me wrong with solid facts, not name calling.
Why do some of us like to degrade the country of our birth like that, as if St Lucia is a third world country on purpose? How can somebody say say most murders go unsolved in St Lucia, which we all know is not true. There is no country in the world, rich or poor who could or have solved all their murders, including St Lucia. Nuff said just do a little thinking before you all write. OK

St.Lucia has a population of only 170,000. Jamaica, on the other hand, has a population of millions.
Our murder RATE is indeed higher than Jamaica's.
What is it about the term RATE that you don't understand.

Was it not under Compton and the UWP that we got the Castries/Gros- islet highway back in 1971; that we got the East-Coast highway; that we got Rodney Bay and the Causeway; that we got the Marina; that we got COPACP; that we got Hess; that we got the Castries Comphrehensive high school; that we got Holiday Inn, La Toc, Halcyon, Carib Blue, etc., etc.
Compare to the above accomplishments, Kenny has achived NOTHING.
I was born in St Lucia, used to visit every year until 2005. I have not been there since this crime wave and all this increase in greed, drunkeness, violence and ignorance.There is a dark cloud hovering over this place. I am scared the hell to come to this place for I may be targeted, robbed and murdered cause their pea brain makes them think I got money because I come from foreign. 2006 maybe the last time I visited this crime ridden place.
Kenny Anthony, King and all the other PMs collectively contributed to development in St Lucia. Looshans are so dumb they consider development soley as buildings, roads, bridges and other material structures. These dummies would not consider forest preservation as being development. Are St Lucians really dumb? Hell yes they are! For Kenny Anthony and the other slick Prime ministers have never attempted to DEVELOP the minds of their people, which is the ultimate development. George Odlum is the only man to to this and they crucified and have forgotten him. Proof is right here on this page, they are dumb and take delight in putting down each other over the preferences of crooked brainwashing politicians.
The crime situation in Saint Lucia is really bad. The question is how can we curb that problem?
Looshans are under two different spells: Politics and religion.
If we stopped allowing ourselves to be controlled by mealy mouthed politicians and thoughts of Jesus we will be just fine! Another thing we have to stop believing and start knowing, for belief is the acceptance of things not known.all this doubt and blind faith is a sure recipe fro disaster. let us change our attitudes and remove ourselves from under these spells for 2011.
indeed the homicide rate in st lucia is not good its among prob the top 5 in the caribbean ..lets get the facts ...
ST KITTS = 1st
TRINIDAD = 2ND
JAMAICA = 3RD
USVI = 4TH
ST.LUCIA = 5th..
lets keep our social problems regional... we need to tackle it and address it statistically from that level..
You know where st lucia ranks high in world records guess what its kinda negative cause we rank high in positive areas such as having 2 NOBLE LAUREATES from a small pop..drive in volcano, 2ND HIGHEST light house in the world , honeymoon status in world tourism etc..
BUT WE RANK NUMBER 9..TH ... WHEN IT COMES TO COMMON LAW MARRIAGES [unmarried couples living together] IN THE WORLD 2010 statistics
In terms of crimes i think JAMAICA WAS #4 & TRINIDAD #9= 2010 STATISTICS.. AND SOUTH AFRICA WAS # 1
OH I FORGOT .... IF I REMEMBER CLEARLY WE ALL FORGET ABOUT HAITI WHERE CRIME IS RAMPANT its prob in the top 5 and i think BAHAMAS also had a bloody year in 2011 SO THAT PUSHES ST LUCIA NOW IN THE TOP TEN .. so we are def not as bad as other caribbean islands.. STKITTS PROB HAD between 30-35 MURDERS.. of an island pop of 36,000 nevis 10,000 NEARLY ALL MURDERS 95% OCCURS IN ST KITTS ALONE
