Gush! Where were all those assumptions say 20-40 years ago when our parents gave us a beating more frequently than kids are being whipped today? What the hell are you talking about? Lessons in parenting?
Compare the crime rate today with that of 30-40 years ago when access to education was less limited and we the children got more beatings; were being screamed at more often, etc?

Not a bad article. The problem is that we try to adopt parenting practices from around the world because we believe they are better. We don't pay any attention to the context or the culture in these other countries. While I believe there are things that parents in St. Lucia can certainly do better, I do not believe the answers lie in imitating everything done in the developed countries. They have their own set of problems with their youth and in some caes it's worse than ours.

We've become a very individualistic society. In the past, everyone in the community helped to raise the child, that isn't so anymore. Add to that the high number of young parents who are children themselves and are absent from their children's lives. Yes, crime can be worse but it can also be better. A good article though, I just don't necessarily agree with a lot of it.

Jason the scientific facts that's presented in your article are relevant and germane especially in this climate of senseless violence on this land of the Arawak people, Hewanorra. The epidemic of violence is a learned behavior and remnant of Chattel and Mental Slavery of the African.

At the basic level it is the manifestation of the self-hatred subliminally cultivated in the mind of the Ex-slave through the Religion-of-White-Supremacy, where the White God tells the Black man that White is perfection and Black is defective, while being fostered in the cauldrons of religious ignorance that the Earth is 6,000 years old and the King James Book is God's Language.

Many of these people are sick and in need of Psychiatric medication - like the SICK phantom at 5:53 who justifies his illness by saying, “I use to smoke for twenty years and nothing is wrong with me! Cof! Cof, Cof gag gaaaag!!” Stop beating and killing your Children and women; you sick bastards!

The abused one-year old of 20 and 40 years ago – yes that would make the killers twenty and forty and fifty years of age today.
