Wow, beautiful!

I do not know of this lady, but have heard of her son.

Eloquently and lovingly written; brought tears to my eyes.

Rest in perfect peace, Mrs Durant.

Calixte, It is time for us to chronicle the exploits and accomplishments of people like Ma Du Bernard; the mother of black enterprise in Saint Lucia, the genesis of the major black businesses in Saint Lucia.
As a kid in Patterson's Gap near the Convent, I used to see this lady from the church by the river on Jeremie Street come with her crew and pick all the mangoes from our palwe mango tree! not even one would fall for us to pick up! We would have to wait for remaining flowers to sneak a few remainders for us to enjoy during the long hot summers!
I love to learn and to be reminded of our rich heritage of Marcus Garveyism and UNIA and the enterprising black Saint Lucians.
I am honored to put my name as I am a descendent of this proud entrepreneurial heritage of Ma Du Bernard.
