The soil that produced healthy bunches of gros-michele and other quality species of bananas in St.Lucia is now depleted of essential nutrients, and the Black Sakota completes its damage of the last vestiges of fertlity left in the once arable lands of St. Lucia.
So, how do we fix this? It is well to recompense old growers for their years of loss in the boxing plants. However, the prospect of crop diversification should be seriously considered as the way foreward to produce marketable crops for the island. Temp fig finir. Pas ni copra encore; so where do we go from here?
